Wilderness Science Center: Wilderness Science Center History The Foundation and their donors, including several Blue Valley ptas, ptos and Booster Othermajor donors include the kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks http://www.bv229.k12.ks.us/WSC/about/history.htm
Extractions: Contact Information In 1997 the Blue Valley School District received 33 acres of land along the Blue River through a donation by Clay Blair. As our area of the state becomes more populated, there is less land that can truly be considered a natural wildlife area. This is unfortunate, because there are fewer places where natural plant and animal life are found, and fewer places for students and adults in our community to observe and learn about Kansas wildlife and nature. This problem is being addressed by this property which includes old and new growth forest, prairie, small wetland, wetland forest, wet meadow, multiple streams and riparian corridor. Mr. Blair specified that this land be used for environmental education purposes and for conservation of the area. The Carolyn Ball Blair Wilderness Science Center (WSC), named in memory of Mr. Blair's mother, provides an exciting opportunity for the Blue Valley School District. For the first time we have a place designated for the environmental education for our K-12 students, staff and community. This center will directly impact literally every student in the Blue Valley School District over the course of their education. In the 1999-2000 school year, the WSC's first year of operation, over 2,200 students visited and learned at the WSC.

Using the Foundation's 501(c)(3) not-for-profit status, donors are able to direct their tax-deductible gifts to a specific fund at the Foundation. The Foundation assists the following special projects in Blue Valley: Wilderness Science Center Photo: Students birdwatching at the Wilderness Science Center The Blue Valley Educational Foundation has raised more than $339,000 for the Wilderness Science Center (WSC), an outdoor educational facility created with the primary goal of providing authentic learning opportunities and environmental education for the students of Blue Valley Schools. This success has been led by a $200,000 donation from the Victor and Helen Regnier Charitable Foundation, a $20,000 gift from Patrick and Caroline Davidson, $5,500 from Capitol Federal Foundation and $5,000 from the William T. Kemper Foundation. Over $17,000 has been received from Blue Valley's PTAs, PTOs, Parent Clubs and Booster Clubs. The Blue Valley Educational Foundation matched parent group donations dollar for dollar. In the fall of 2003 a bridge was built that completes the loop of trails around the WSC. Much more of the WSC is now accessible to disabled students, and the bridge also secures students' safety with easier access for emergency vehicles. The Dixon Family Foundation donated $20,000 for the construction of this bridge.

Race Ahead With Alternative Channels! You re Not in kansas Anymore. There you will find advice in past feature articlesHow to Create a Killer Channel Strategy; ptos and ptas The Emerging http://www.schooldata.com/ssm-mccandless.alternative.html
Extractions: sellingtoschools.com Faced with declining tax revenues and a sputtering economy, companies selling to schools are bracing for a tough year. While the jury is out on the results of sales and marketing efforts for the current academic year, one thing is certain. Channel strategy is now the high octane fuel for corporate profits. If you aren't already convinced, just take a look at the high cost of sales for most companies that operate in the school market. Expensive single or limited scope channel models, typically direct or through VARs, predominate the school markets. Even in this new marketplace that allows anybody to find out about (and buy) virtually anything, anytime, anywhere, "tried and true" channels get the nod, even when the tried and true is becoming much too costly. Executives who fail to place a high priority on developing new channel strategies place the future of their organizations in jeopardy. Why? Because by the time you realize that channel costs are eating you alive, it can be difficult to stop the bleeding. It takes months to develop new channel strategies and even longer to implement them, especially when you begin to integrate "alternative" channelschannels that are out of the ordinary for your type of product or service but offer the greatest potential for channel efficiencies.
