KAEYC Annual Awards Presented at Annual Conference Four awards were presented October 4, 2003 at the annual KAEYC Conference to recognize people and organizations that have made a difference to children and communities. The recipients of these awards were Alita Cooper, Outstanding Lifetime Award Alita Cooper is a retired KU professor of early care and education. She has served in numerous positions for the KAEYC, Kansas Child Care Training Opportunities (KCCTO), and Douglas County Community Development Association (DCCDA) Governing Boards. She is currently a student teacher supervisor at Washburn University. Additionally, Alita has been conference chair for both the Annual KAEYC Conference and the Midwest AEYC Conference. For many years, Alita Cooper served as the historian for KAEYC. Alita travels around the State representing young children. She does KCCTO training for early childhood educators. Alita Cooper could give the energizer bunny a run for its money. If young children are concerned, Alita is ready. She teaches teachers to teach children. What a great and special lady!!!
