"It could last another few weeks. Late January? Maybe even February, but it could all gain momentum in which case it would all be over earlier," Raymond Vermeulen told the driver's Web site. "Tomorrow the situation could be different altogether. We are positive about developments, talks are continuing," he added. Jordan are the only F1 team with no drivers announced for the new season starting on March 7 in Australia and the team have said they want to finalize their sponsorship deals first. "Eddie (Jordan) is still looking carefully at the shortlist of available drivers," said a team spokeswoman. Verstappen, an experienced F1 driver who was with Minardi last year, can count on considerable backing from Dutch technology company Trust. Vermeulen defined the current state of negotiations as "contact, but no contract."

Extractions: [excerpeted from my forthcoming article in the Bubblegum is the Naked Truth book] Roberto Jordán was born in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. In the late fifties and early sixties, Jordán sang for fun among gatherings of his friends. But his first job behind a microphone started before his singing career: at age 14 he got a job as a DJ on a Mexican radio station. His penchant for entertaining people grew, and he was encouraged by friends and people in the entertainment industry to go further.....Jordán was to become part of the Nueva Ola (new wave) of youth-oriented music that swept Mexico around 1968. Jordáns repertoire stands out because of the great number of covers taken directly from the halls of U.S. bubblegum. These covers include but are not limited to: El Juego De Simón (Simple Simon Says / 1910 Fruitgum Company) Jordán was often backed up by Los Zignos, a group of Mexican studio musicians that shared similar musical interests. He also cut a few songs with the psychedelic group Los Dug Dugs (their apostrophe, not mine!). The Dug Dugs kicked off their career in 1966 with the single Chicotito Si, Chicotito No which was used as the theme for a childrens TV show in Mexico City, and the Dug Dugs appeared as the house band in a number of teen movies such as 1967s El Mundo Loco de los Jovenes (The Crazy World of the Teenagers). Robert Jordan Bookreviews Biography of the author along with a short bibliography and cover scans. http://home.swipnet.se/~w-17633/books/r_jordan.htm
Extractions: Robert Jordan, creator of The Wheel of Time believes that fantasy is an enduring form of literature because it reaches "something deep in people; their dreams." He feels that fantasy literature appeals to a desire for a simpler time of life with recognizable good and evil, and that fantasy provides a universe with rules, order and underlying framework. The author has both a degree in physics and a military background, unusual credits for a fantasy writer. A lifelong resident of Charleston, South Carolina, Jordan was born in 1948. With a brother 12 years his senior, Robert began his education at an early age, and his future interest in fantastic literature was inevitable. "When my parents couldn't get a baby-sitter, they'd get my brother," he recalls. "He would read to me, not kids' books, but things he was interested in, like Jules Verne, H.G. Wells and Mark Twain, so I was exposed to a lot of great fiction." Jordan served two tours of duty in Vietnam (from 1968-70), earning the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze star. The Vietnamese twice awarded him with their Cross of Gallantry. After Vietnam, he entered the Citadel, the military college of South Carolina, where he received a degree in physics. In retrospect, Robert Jordan feels that physics is not such an unusual background for a fantasy writer. "You can't study quantum mechanics without a feel for fantasy," he recently reflected, "Schrodinger's Cat alone will kill any logical person dead." After attaining his degree, he was employed by the Navy as a nuclear engineer. He was hospitalized for an injury which gave him a great deal of time to catch up on his reading. Jordan quickly ran out of satisfactory material, and in exasperation, thought he could probably write as well as the authors he had been reading. The Wheel of Time is the happy result.
