I-WEB: Links To K-12 Schools In Indiana Project Title (RFP 86) IWEB Linking K-12 Schools in Indiana on the World Wide Web a stratified random sample of 179 indiana k-12 schools. The purpose was to verify Web http://education.indiana.edu/sdcprog.html
Extractions: January, 1997 Needs analysis: Focus groups were conducted in 13 school districts within a 100-mile radius of Bloomington. Schools were purposefully selected to balance elementary, middle and high schools; urban, suburban, and rural areas; and school size and socioeconomic status. Educators were asked how they were currently using the Web (if at all), in what ways they want to use it, and what major obstacles or issues they face. Themes that emerged were used to construct a survey questionnaire that was sent to a stratified random sample of 179 Indiana K-12 schools. The purpose was to verify Web needs statewide. The 91 respondents appear to be representative of state demographics, according to tests of goodness of fit on geographic location, size, level (primary, secondary), socioeconomic status, and years of teaching experience. These results affect activities in phases 2 - 4. The needs analysis indicated two major groups of potential users.

The Future Is Now In Indiana K-12 Schools Purdue News. The future is now in indiana k12 schools. By Martin C. Jischke President, Purdue University. People often wonder what the future will look like. http://news.uns.purdue.edu/UNS/html3month/031014.O.Jischke.K.16.html
Extractions: President, Purdue University People often wonder what the future will look like. It's not difficult to envision. Visit any schoolroom and you will find the hope for tomorrow: Bright students, dedicated and energetic teachers. But you also will find some challenges. Not all students are succeeding in school; not all teachers are able to handle the difficult challenges they face. Perhaps the most important responsibility of any generation is the education of the generation that follows. Indiana school systems and teachers are sending excellent students to Purdue University. Purdue students are career-oriented and serious about their studies. The academic preparedness of our incoming classes is consistently outstanding. I thoroughly enjoy being around these students. They give me a great sense of confidence in the future. Some of them are truly exceptional in their perception and ability to think on their feet. Purdue is already engaged in efforts to support our public schools. For example, the university sponsors the statewide Reading Recovery programs to help young students who are being left behind. Purdue is actively helping teach youngsters a love for subjects such as science and math through special programs on its campus and in classrooms across the state.
Education Strengthened When Treated As A Seamless Whole even further. Many indiana k12 schools are making tremendous progress. But there are others where students are lagging behind. One http://news.uns.purdue.edu/UNS/html3month/020813.SP.Jischke.edu.html
Extractions: August 13, 2002 Purdue President Martin C. Jischke gave this address Tuesday (8/13) during the Pathways to College Policy Forum Good afternoon. Thank you for the opportunity to speak today. My special thanks to the Indiana Education Roundtable and Pathways to College Network for hosting this forum. Meetings such as this are essential in strengthening the linkage between pre-kindergarten through college education. Meetings such as this are vital as we work to improve the academic success of our students and take education in Indiana to the next level of excellence. As Indiana's land-grant university, Purdue is committed to working with this state, its schools and teachers to strengthen education. Several years ago I served on the Kellogg Commission on the Future of State and Land Grant Universities. Among the conclusions of this commission was that those of us in higher education must build stronger partnerships with public schools to increase the number of students prepared for college. The most significant impact higher education can have on K-12 comes through teacher preparation. Purdue is working hard to graduate teachers who will be leaders and agents of positive change.
