The first step towards building a countywide learning community that focuses on the collective needs of our children began on September 24, 2003, at a meeting hosted by the DuPage Regional Office of Education. Over 125 county officials, state legislators, judges, and other dignitaries from education, health, business, and other interested individuals were in attendance. The purpose of the strategic planning process is to generate the goals and actions necessary to harness the combined strength and energy of the DuPage County community to support all our children. By joining together behind countywide education, vision, and mission statements, pooling our talents, identifying common needs and unusual resources, we can maximize our limited funding, attract new grants, and involve the community in supporting our schools to meet the challenges we face.
