The ISU Bengal Online The idaho State Board of education regulation prohibits the possession, consumption and sale of alcohol in public areas of campus. http://www.isuextra.com/news/2002/03/06/Opinion/Commentary.Idaho.State.Univ.Alco
Extractions: Perhaps it is too much of an utopian idea to have a full bar in the Bengal Cafe, or at some other location at the Student Union Building. However, someone would be making a lot of profit on that, but that's up to the money driven minds to figure out. What I can see is that perhaps our student union would become more popular than ever. Some people would be attracted by the sale of alcohol, and many more would be attracted by the crowds. Besides, it would really help some professors to make their classes more pleasant if they could stop by the "Bengal Bar and Cafe" to have a drink or two before classes. It's no wonder that students at ISU cannot carry around any kind of alcoholic beverages on campus since we live in one of the most conservative states in the union. The Idaho State Board of Education regulation prohibits the possession, consumption and sale of alcohol in public areas of campus. It would be helpful if the Board of Education also specified what exactly it means by public areas of campus. Maybe then concerned students would stop wondering why alcoholic beverages are allowed to be served in the ISU Alumni House. I don't actually think it is bad to serve or even to sell alcohol at parties at the Alumni house as it has happened before, even though the State Board of Education clearly states that "the sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in college or university-owned, leased or operated facilities and on campus grounds."
Extractions: Against a backdrop of federal pressure to increase testing of K-12 students, South Dakota and Idaho are adding statewide testing programs with a wrinkle - they are putting them online. The testing programs in both states are not high-stakes tests used to determine if a child should move up a grade or graduate from high school. Given twice a year, the criterion-referenced exams measure student performance against state curriculum standards and can be used to drive instruction in the classroom. One complaint teachers frequently have about such achievement tests given on paper and pencil is that they get results months later when there is little opportunity to affect instruction. One benefit online testing brings South Dakota and Idaho is immediacy. "You can take this test, and it will score it within milliseconds and send it back to you," said Wade Pogany, coordinator for Dakota Assessment of Content Standards for the South Dakota Education Department. "It will tell a child what concepts he needs to work on."
