The Consumer Fraud Task Force brings together the resources and expertise of a wide variety of organizations to educate Georgians about consumer issues, protections and rights. The Consumer Fraud Task Force believes education is key to consumer fraud prevention, collaboration magnifies the impact of educational efforts, and vulnerable populations need appropriate educational messages. The Consumer Fraud Task Force provides leadership to Georgia Consumer Protection Week, an annual educational campaign addressing specific frauds, and other events and programs designed to inform Georgia consumers about how to avoid being victimized. The Consumer Fraud Task Force has identified abusive lending practices as the focus of educational efforts in 2003. June 4, 2004 ADRA, Partners Aid Families Affected by Bolivian Unrest Silver Spring, Maryland The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) office in Bolivia recently completed a three-month project in response to civil unrest and violence in late 2003. The unrest left 70 people dead and more than 400 wounded in the cities of El Alto and La Paz and the infrastructure severely damaged. June 1, 2004 Aid Provided to Dominican Republic Flood Survivors Silver Spring, Maryland Severe flooding in the Dominican Republic has killed hundreds, with many more still missing or unaccounted for. Those affected by the flooding are receiving aid from the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) office in the Dominican Republic. In response ADRA will provide clothing, shoes, medicine and food supplies to 1,000 people affected by the flooding. Food supplies will include rice, beans, cooking oil, potatoes, pasta, salt, milk, and oatmeal. May 26, 2004
