Extractions: Cardigans reach their crescendo! ( 5 out of 5 ) The Cardigans find their dark side with Gran Turismo ( 4 out of 5 ) Who could forget the Cardigans' hit "Lovefool"? They were so happy and full of pop music joy..no more. Their 1998 album Gran Turismo is obviously a result of alot of searching through the music industry's trip hop scene. It works, especially with Nina Gordon's soul searching voice. The album is full of low key ambience, opening with "Paralyzed", a beautiful, murky nine inch nails-like track. Of course, "My favorite Game" is the standout, with a beat that will stick in your head for awhile and is catchy as "Lovefool",minus the upbeat tone. "Erase/Rewind" is also a great track, with its distant sound and synth bleeps. There are a few dragging moments and tends to get repetitive with the oh-woes-me words. Jeez, Trent Reznor doesnt moan and groan this much. Still, it has more good than bad, and if youre a fan of garbage or Tricky, youll probably like this one.
