Extractions: Assignment 7: DNA Recombination The program for this assignment, and everything else except the README file, is due at 9 P.M. on Wednesday, March 31st, 2004. As usual, the README file is due at midnight the same day (i.e., the moment that Thursday starts). Refer to the homework policies page for general homework guidelines. The primary purpose of this assignment is to get you used to writing C++ iterators. You will also be developing a preliminary list class . Both the list class and the iterator for it will be useful to you in later assignments. NOTE: the list class you develop in this assignment will be central to assignments 8 and 9. MAKE SURE you develop it well and debug it thoroughly. If you blow this assignment off, you will do poorly on the following two assignments as well. A correct solution to this assignment will NOT be distributed to the class. It is your responsibility to be sure you have a properly working list class and iterator. The problem description for this assignment is long. Much of it is background that is not critical for you to understand thoroughly. The short version of what you must do is: Write and debug a singly-linked list of integers Write and debug an iterator for your list class, and

Extractions: March 17 It sure has been a busy term and the last 8 weeks have literally flown by. Most assessment dates are available online through each student private desktop, which can be accessed via the internet at home. This is an exciting new dimension to science at Mount Isa Catholic High School. Students can submit their practical reports online, access work they may have missed and print off copies of assignment sheets they may have misplaced. Some students have already taken advantage of the online homework help and have found their answers are simply an email away. It is the Science Departments expectation that this will help eliminate some of the stress students feel with regards to homework. The Thursday afternoon Science Club and Homework Help have proven to be a huge success with numerous students attending each week. Students have been building circuits, analysing conspiracy theories and working on their assignments at the same time. This is a time for students to voluntarily spend an hour after school enjoying science and being involved in extension activities. Unfortunately, due to an upcoming crime scene investigation for the Year 11 Multi-strand Science class, Science Club will not be operating next week. Students from all grades are welcome to observe the crime scene after school, next Thursday afternoon until 3.20pm. The Year 11 Biology class have begun to give the school grounds a much needed face-lift. With the new buildings popping-up around us, the Year 11 Biology class decided to make some garden beds, flower gardens and eventually a dry rainforest next to the hall and Science Laboratory. These gardens and a greenhouse on the way, will mean that these students will be able to participate in more hands-on learning. Keep an eye out for the new gardens around the school grounds, as each will be designed by a different student in the Biology class and Science Club. If you would like to admire the first stage of the students work, they are currently rejuvenating the garden at the front of the hall (old church) at the intersection of Camooweal and Mary Sts. Krista OConnor, year 11, has designed this area with flowers and plants to represent the school colours.

Extractions: The educators at ScienceMaster believe that pairing words with images is a great way to learn. That's why we created A+ Learning Galleries. Each gallery contains pictures and text relating to just one science topic. It makes it easy for students to get an overview of just that topic. The pictures help create mental images that improve retention. Let's face it - homework is important, but not always appreciated by students. At ScienceMaster we make learning fun, and that includes homework. We're expanding our 'Homework Help' pages, adding more calculators, equivalency converters and now science glossaries. Our favorite new addition is a really cool Sunrise/Sunset Calculator. Enter your location and it will calculate the exact local time for sunrise and sunset. Give it a try, then take a look at all the help we have for homework and learning. It may not make homework the most popular chore, but it makes it more fun. Take a look.

My case study is the San Francisco Bay for which I have already collected a large validation dataset. My model is based on the variable density incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in 3-D with embedded boundaries. I am very interested in the numerical solution of elliptic and hyperbolic PDE's. I am also very interested in Adaptive Mesh Refinement. I am collaborating with the Applied Numerical Algorithms Group at LBL and am using their EBChombo library as a foundation.
