Wilder's Famous French Onion Soup Easy recipe for six servings, at Lisa's cooking Cache. http://www.cookingcache.com/wildersfamousfrenchonionsoup.shtml
Extractions: Heat butter; add onions; simmer about 10 minutes or until soft and lightly browned. Add bouillon; bring to boil, simmer 20 minutes Season to taste with salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce. On top of each serving float a slice of sautéed French bread; sprinkle with grated cheese and pass around a bowl of additional cheese for your guests. Pour into earthenware or soup plates. I use eatable bread bowls with the centers taken out and lightly sprayed with butter and sprinkled with garlic salt, broiled for a few minutes and tossed onto the bowls. Makes about 6 servings

Extractions: Forum Links ... French cooking Dutch version This site is about tourism in France, not about the famous French cuisine. However, some French specialty's should be mentioned: truffles, bouillabaisse and raclette . Finally, being Dutch I simply must add a paragraph about the possibilities to get fried potatoes, pancakes and so on If you like pancakes, you will not have any problem with the famous French cuisine. Foto: Xavier / Les Amis du Type H Truffles Truffles are mushrooms, growing in subsoil. They're small, but tasty and filled with nutritious matter. They should be eaten as fresh as possible. Nevertheless, they're sold in tins too. Truffles do perfectly well in hash, soup and wine-sauce. Also, they go easily with meat e.g. turkey. Bouillabaisse Bouillabaisse is a fish-soup, traditionally made by fisherman from Marseille out of the fish they could not sell. So in fact, it's a very simple family-meal. It has a very special taste thanks to the fact that it has at least four different species of fish in it. The species may change, depending on the kinds of fish available.

Susan Loomis also conducts small, hands-on cooking seminars in her hometown of Louviers. This year's sessions begin in May.
