Extractions: Toolkit Consultation List Consultation Descriptions CONSULTATION PROCESS In 2003-2004, ULSF, in collaboration with the GHESP partners, United Nations University, and others, is holding a series of consultations with experts in education for sustainability in different regions of the world to assess resource needs and obtain input on the content and structure of the Toolkit. By late 2004, GHESP and other collaborating partners will develop a strategic plan and major fundraising proposal to support the construction and launch of the Toolkit in 2005-2008. Since it is global in scope, but seeks to be responsive to sub-regions (bio/cultural areas) and local needs, the Toolkit project is a large and lengthy undertaking. Toolkit consultations are being held in critical regions of the world to ensure broad global participation and input. We have enlisted the help of global partners (such as United Nations University and the Ubuntu Alliance), and have identified a series of venues and various local hosts for consultation events (see Figure 1). The consultations will also assist in organizing the higher education sector for participation in the DESD, and the identification, development and coordination of Southern and Northern regional centers and networks for advancing ESD. Extractions: teachers are experienced Web consumers, some lack experience using the Web. The opportunity to grow in Web experience adds value to training workshops. Workshop Web pages fill a continuum from full Web-based distance learning delivery to companion materials for a traditional class. The Web pages serve a multitude of purposes before, during and after the workshop. Before the workshop group meets formally, participants can read the Web page to become oriented to the topic of the workshop. During the workshop, the Web pages become a multimedia, interactive agenda where participants can return after the workshop concludes. After the conclusion of the workshop, participants have access to all materials and their additions and updates. For added functionality, and for teachers in schools still lacking Internet connectivity, the contents of the Web pages can be distributed on CD-ROM.
