Teachit's English Teaching Resources an invaluable recruitment tool for English, drama and Media on offer to members too this list includes York Send mail to mail@teachit.co.uk with questions or http://www.teachit.co.uk/
Extractions: Whenever we ask you for feedback about Teachit the same words come up again and again: practical, useful, accessible, relevant, organised, comprehensive, up to date, supportive. Im really proud that weve been living up to this list and saving you time for all the other important things in life. Whether youre into wasp tickling, salt stacking, dust bunny sculpting (all genuine - theyre on Google!) or just want a bit of time for you we hope we can help. But no matter how many resources on offer we all know that it can be nigh on impossible to find the perfect worksheet for a particular class / teacher / objective / context. It doesnt take a genius to realise that the task that works perfectly for, lets say, 10A first thing on Monday may not go down so well with 11D last lesson on Friday, particularly if youve tried to join the normal people on Thursday and go out on a school night! And, for many of us, creating or adapting the materials is a vital part of the planning process; as anyone who has attempted to teach a cover lesson using someone elses resource can testify, these things can, and should, be personal. Extractions: Drama and music weave through the Howard Family's life; overflowing into the community, the country, and the world beyond. When Daris Howard was growing up on a farm in Idaho he had no idea what an influence the vibrant individuals with whom he connected daily would have on his life's mission. Together with his wife, Donnawho arranges the musicand their nine children, Daris uses his spare time to create and produce G rated plays and musicals brimming with those interesting characters from long ago. These shows provide recreation, not only for his own family, but also for members of the St. Anthony communityboth as participants on stage, and as enthusiastic members of the audience. They have become a summer tradition in this part of Idaho, and a great opportunity for the Howards to share the gospel by example. Sharon Park, whose boys, Joseph, Daniel, and Aaron, have taken part in many shows, comments, "My children made lifelong friendships and had such good experiences because of these productions. It is great to see how the Howard family participates and extend themselves to others." Between them, the Howards sing, play the piano, French horn, harp, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, guitar and harmonica. With encouragement from parents like Daris and Donna, who are gifted in both music theory and performance, the children can't help but find joy in their family hobby.

Extractions: Make puppets to exemplify the parts of speech. Make up a list of sentences with the puppet parts of speech in them. Have the kids use the puppets to read the sentences and show how the parts of speech have to work together. If they don't, communication will become chaos. For the non-readers...have them choose a "Baby Book" and adapt the story into a play and present it for the lower grades. Cross-age drama is important for the non-reader as it allows him to learn from the beginning without having to be humiliated. AAARCH TO ZIZZ. 135 Drama Games. Graeme K. Talboys Every aspect of the theatrical world is covered in this exciting introduction to acting and theatre. It illustrates and explains some of the ways actors train and rehearse, as well as going into the practical arts of set props and costume design and the technical basics of theatre lighting and sound. Classroom drama is now a widespread component of primary and secondary school curricula, both in its own right and as a support for other subjects. Whilst there are many exponents and practitioners, there is a lack of overall analysis of theory, advocating practice and evaluation. This analysis is now available in this objective and penetrating book.
Radio Drama Resources - Toward A Radio Drama 101 I made to the radio drama email discussion list collection and posted it to the list back in Tony Palermo Palermo@sprynet.com Subject Radio drama Course http://home.sprynet.com/~palermo/mtr_rd13.htm
Extractions: Toward a Radio Drama 101 My notes towards helping people get started creating radio drama. These come from a post I made to the radio drama e-mail discussion list and my reply to a college instructor seeking advice for a radio course. To easily search my site, click here and replace the generic text with your own criteria. Radio Resources Home Date: Wed, 10 Jan 2001 Subject: Toward a Radio Drama 101 Fellow radio-ists, There's been a bit of discussion on radio books and I thought I might be of some assistance here. While many members of this list are practicing audio dramatists, I know there are always radio newbies looking for advice. http://www.mtr.org While these are production workshops for families, the scripts are a veritable "how-to" demonstration of a variety of radio techniques. For a $5 fee, you produce a classic-style show, get to keep the script, and they send you a cassette recording of your production. We do everything from soaps to Sci-Fi. And it's fun! I haven't had time to put in a full fledged on-line course in radio writing, but there are sample pages and discussions of techniques. I recommend that writers read through the pages on scoring, sound effects and production because they may give you ideas on exploiting the medium. I also have links to other resources on the web. As for books about how to write for radio, I just found a copy of Erik Barnouw's "Handbook of Radio Writing" (1940) at a flea market for $1. It's a well written book by a Columbia University "radio professor" that takes a very comprehensive approach to the unique challenges of the medium with many examples from golden age programs.
