Aquarium Diseases Diagnosis and treatment of disorders. http://shell.pubnix.net/~spond/disease/diseases.html
Extractions: Some notes about the following disease identifications. I will be using a number of commercially available literature to identify the common diseases of fish. Each will be identified with the description by a reference number. A passage headed by a number in [] is a direct quote from the identified source, the source is numerically identified as completely as possible at the end of this document. There will be as many quotes as possible to give you as much published information as possible. My own personal experiences and what I use to treat a given sympton will be added as well. My experiences will not be headed by a number. Internal Paracites Virus Wounds Fish diseases are quite dificult to accurately diagnose without the use of relatively sophisticated equipment most aquarists would prefer to do without. As such, most rely on the diagnostic ability of local pet store personel. With experience, these staff are a valuable resource and should be consulted. In addition, read as much as you can on the assorted symptoms of diseases. Proper identification of a problem can often lead to the successful treatment. In my experience, most of the problems covered in this section are simply a reaction to stress in the environment. I firmly believe that the largest killer of fish in the care of aquarists is the presence of

Dr. Gonzalez's Nutritional Regimen Drs. Nicholas Gonzalez and Linda Isaacs offer an aggressive nutritional protocol for patients with Cancer and other degenerative diseases. Clinical trials are currently underway. http://www.dr-gonzalez.com
Extractions: Dr. Gonzalez's Nutritional Regimen Welcome to our website, and thank you for your interest in our work. Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez has been investigating nutritional approaches to cancer and other degenerative diseases since 1981, and has been in practice in New York since 1987. Dr. Linda Isaacs has been working with Dr. Gonzalez in his research and practice since 1985. In our office we use an individualized aggressive nutritional protocol to work with many types of cancer, and with other illnesses such as allergies, autoimmune disorders and chronic fatigue. The positive results of our first clinical trial were published in June of 1999. We are currently involved in a National Cancer Institute-NCCAM supervised clinical study involving patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. We have been asked to refer patients interested in this project to governmental websites such as the PDQ site at the NCI. We have also collaborated with scientists to test our enzymes in animal models of cancer and the first of these reports detailing a positive response was published in May 2004. We hope to continue research efforts to evaluate the value of our method, so that this treatment will eventually become accepted into mainstream medicine and be more readily available to patients.

Extractions: The Immune Response Corporation was co-founded by Dr. Jonas Salk, discoverer of the polio vaccine, as a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to treating human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The Company's lead product candidate, R EMUNE , is an immune-based therapy (IBT) designed to induce a specific immune response in individuals already infected by HIV and boost the body's natural defense mechanisms in order to slow HIV disease progression. Data from clinical studies suggest R EMUNE may be active in promoting the immune system's own ability to defend against HIV when used alone or in conjunction with antiretroviral drugs. Sea And Sky: Aquarium Diseases & Treatments Common marine fish and invertebrate health problems, and suggested remedies. http://www.seasky.org/aquarium/sea3e.html#Other Fish Diseases
Extractions: This section contains information about the most common marine fish and invertebrate diseases and disorders, along with their suggested treatments. This information is intended to be used only as a basic guideline. Consult your local aquarium dealer or specialist if you are unsure about treatments or need more information. The diseases are organized by the categories below: Fish Parasites Marine Whitespot Disease Other Names: Saltwater Ich, Cryptocaryon Irritans Symptoms: Flicking and scratching against rocks and other surfaces, small white spots resembling sugar covering fins and body. Comments: This disease is highly infectious and can spread rapidly to other fish in the tank. Rapid treatment is highly recommended. If treated in a reasonable amount of time it is usually not fatal. Treatment: If the infestation is minor, a 5 minute freshwater bath may prove effective. Discontinue the freshwater bath if the fish begins to become overly stressed. For more major infestations, use copper -based medications to kill the cryptocaryon parasites . In a reef tank environment, the infected fish must be moved to a hospital tank for treatment.
