Davis, and I am the spokesperson for Coalition 2000. I am pleased to provide this testimony to you today on our efforts in helping communities prepare for the Year 2000. Coalition 2000 is a network of community preparedness resources, acting as a clearinghouse to provide the public with credible awareness information, preparedness tools, and community action plans. Our goal is to establish a collaborative process, involving many organizations and experts working on year 2000 issues, to produce efficiencies and create beneficial synergism in community preparedness efforts. Coalition 2000 helps communities prepare for the Year 2000 by sharing useful tools and providing reliable information through a collaborative process involving community, government, and private sector groups. We operate as a network rather than an organization. Our network includes leading community preparedness organizations. Currently 72 organizations across the country and around the world (see the attached listing of organizations and descriptions) participate directly in the Coalition's efforts. Through these organizations, and their members and networks, we are in touch with hundreds of other organizations and thousands of individuals.
