Extractions: It uses the spiral approach and I really appreciate the ease with which they develop a great number of concept for the child. I wish this had been around when my first two kids were little. In the first grade, children are introduced to simple fractions, story problems (right from grade one on), time, skip counting (which makes later multiplication easy), money, number lines, graphing, temperature,and the concept of congruency, and much more. The spiral effect keeps all of these concepts in mind while learning new things. There is enough practice that I have not needed to add more drill for any of the 3 kids using the program. A great deal can be done independently once a concept is understood, although a child will need some of your time each day. For example, in the first grade there are story problems right from day 4if you have a kid who is only learning to read you read it to them. This develops listening skills too. Lessons are of appropriate length.
