Extractions: Gloria Stearns addressed the BOF and the audience, expressing her feeling that the BOE should have addressed the budget problems earlier when it was first aware of the dramatic increase of special education children. Ms. Stearns said the BOE needs to be more forthright with the taxpayers, and that she is angry that the BOE is using children again to achieve its means. Sophie Feinberg (11 Ivy Hill) a sixth grade student at East Ridge Middle School told the people in attendance what a positive experience her participation in the music program has been. She went on to say how upset she was when she was told the Ridgefield public school music programs might be in jeopardy due to lack of funds. Ms. Feinberg asked the BOF to do whatever is necessary to secure appropriate funding so that the music program is not cut. Dr. Kenneth Freeston, Superintendent of Schools, addressed the BOF saying that when he last met with the BOF he was only seven days into his new job and said he would study the BOE budget in great detail and show the BOF what the details would be should additional funding not come forward. He then presented the following:
