Connecticut College - General Education Requirements general education. Dated August 14, 2003. connecticut College requiresthat each student complete a program of general education. http://camel2.conncoll.edu/academics/gen_ed/areas/
Extractions: Academic ... General Education Dated: August 14, 2003 Connecticut College requires that each student complete a program of general education. Foundation Courses are designed to give you a basic introduction to a discipline. This might be done through the study of major texts in a given discipline or through study of the issues and questions around which a discipline is built. The academic disciplines are in essence formalized ways of trying to understand the world, and each one of them has its conventions of how it goes about its task. Another way in which Foundation Courses can work then is to introduce you to the chief issues within a given discipline. Another way of saying this is to ask what are the questions a discipline is trying to answer. Academic disciplines are perspectives and vantage points from which the world can be observed and understood. Each stakes out a portion of reality to examine, and thus offers a perspective or vantage point from which to see and evaluate the world. Whichever one it happens to be, a liberal arts discipline should teach you how to examine critically the conventions of inquiry being followed and the assumptions used. This is true whether you are studying institutions, scientific data, human beings, or perhaps most importantly of all, yourself. Part I: Foundation Courses

Extractions: League of Women Voters of Connecticut Education Fund, Inc. CONNECTICUT GENERAL ASSEMBLY Legislative Sessions: January 8 - June 4, 2003; February 4 - May 5, 2004 The Senate and the House of Representatives together are known as the General Assembly. Connecticut is unique among the 50 states having both Senators and Representatives as members of all Legislative Committees. The President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House each appoint a Chair for each Joint Legislative Committee. According to the Joint Rules of the General Assembly, the committees consider legislative proposals (bills) pertaining to their subject area. A select committee (indicated by * on our Legislative Committees page) does not vote bills directly out to the floor; it refers bills to another committee for action. All Legislative Committee meeting rooms in the list are located in the Legislative Office Building (LOB) unless otherwise noted. Check the General Assemblys Internet home page at www.cga.state.ct.us
