Weve listed only the very best, most reliable resources from the mountains of information available on the Internet, in books, in the public record, and elsewhere. Much of what you find on the Internet is difficult or impossible to verify. Some of it is even disinformation. Yet on this list, almost every resource gives a wealth of reliable references and footnotes, so you can independently confirm information provided. A one-paragraph description is given for each resource. In addition, the resources are evaluated using a scale of 1 to 10 on two criteriainterest and reliability. Every resource listed has been read or watched and checked for reliability. The marker is placed in front of resources you dont want to miss. For each resource a link is provided for ease of ordering. Prices listed were last confirmed on the respective websites in January 2004. Also note that some resources and all summaries are free!

Welcome to the new MCA-I Chicago Chapter Website A new look for the coming new year Undoubtedly the last year has brought on many changes for many MCA-I Chicago members, and hopefully those changes have been predominantly for the better. So where would we be this holiday season without some changes to usher in the New Year? It all started when the parent organization MCA-I upgraded their web look . The board felt we might want to revisit our website look, to make it more contemporary, and fitting with the look for the parent organization. The result is what you see here today. It bears some resemblance to the national site, with a local twist. There are also some other major changes coming to the website over the next few months. Some features are started, and others might take a little while, so your patience is requested. We do think you'll find it worth the wait.

Jimmy Long. (1997). Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press. $14.99 This book is one of the clearest and most profoundly practical books written on Generation X. It comes at Gen X from a philosophical point-of-view, rather than a generational one, and provides incredibly practical applications from cover to cover. It is a must read!! After working for many years on a university campus, Jimmy Long began to realize that today's students are very different from students a few years ago. This book is the result of his analysis of the reasons for these radical shifts in attitude and thinking. Long's contention is that although Howe and Strauss may be correct in their generational theory, and that there is a shift between Boomers and Generation X, that the current attitudinal shift is also (and more importantly) a shift from Enlightenment thinking to Postmodern thinking. Generation X is the first truly postmodern generation. Long explores what this means, emphasizing postmodern characteristics, including community, tribalism (a term he uses to refer to sub cultures within today's youth), hopelessness and pessimism.
