Her term as president commences at the end of AERAs 2004 annual meeting after a year of service as president-elect. Cochran-Smith will succeed Hilda Borko, an educational psychologist at the School of Education at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Borko, an expert on teacher cognition and the process of learning to teach, assumes office this year at the conclusion of the 2003 AERA conference, taking place in Chicago April 21 to 25.
