I think Intentions is one of my favourites of his to date - buddy, we've all been there. Infinite Juxtaposition of Destiny Patience Intentions Posted by mattymcg at 09:13 /writing Mie wondered if she wasn't making contact with him on purpose, perhaps willing the masses to sway in her favour, "accidentally" leaning on him against her own volition. Partly it was true - she couldn't really avoid it. But she knew she was lingering, staying to feel his warmth, and when the crowd leaned back again, her hesitation turned a brief touch into a signal, a sign of intimacy yearned for. For three stations she let herself lean forward, supposedly unable to do anything about this circumstantial union of their hands. Mie closed her eyes and savoured the energy she was deriving from his touch. Images of kindness, warmth and happiness flooded her heart and she began to feel excited at the thrill of new prospects, new love, a new

Extractions: Language Arts and Literature Author Sites Citing Sources Shakespeare Middle/High School ... Writing Process Resources Citing Sources Just as students need to cite the books and periodicals they use to support their research, they must also cite online sources of information. The following methods have been developed to help students cite Internet resources as accessed through their Internet browsers. This method makes it easy for educators to check the veracity of every online source their students cite. The Citation Machine: This web tool enables teachers (and students) to select a resource type (book, journal article, newspaper or magazine article, website, email message, online forum, interview) and then fill in a form asking for the appropriate attribution information. The tool then produces a standard citation for the resource, which can be highlighted, copied, and then pasted into an information product. A new addition to Citation Machine is the option to generate APA citations as well as MLA. Then just copy and paste your citation into your project. Electronic Reference Formats Recommended by APA: The APA has revised their guidelines for electronic citations. Keep up with the latest information for citing all your electronic sources, including electronic databases.

Extractions: An anytime-of-the-year interactive bulletin board to support collaborative writing How many times has your "Fall Colors" bulletin board kept its leaves long after the trees outside have dropped theirs? Rather than let your boards always be ruled by changing seasons and approaching holidays, try an "Unfold a Story" board, an interactive class project designed for grades K-3 but adaptable to higher grade levels, to engage students in creating collaborative stories while honing writing skills any time of the year. MAKING THE BOOK The idea is to create foldout books that students write by unfolding and filling in one page at a time: * Cover your bulletin board with craft paper and add a heading such as "Watch the Stories Unfold."

Extractions: Margaret Meek (1988) has described how children borrow ideas from literature through 'unteachable' lessons. In this article I examine how children's written work is enhanced through 'teachable' lessons, where the teacher draws attention explicitly to aspects of literary texts and where children explore and evaluate literature through group reading and discussion. The inter-relationship between children's knowledge and understanding of texts, gained through interactive discourse, and their own writing development, is examined. This relationship is explored with reference to the work of three groups of children which illustrates how critical reading and group discussion can develop metalinguistic awareness and metacognitive understanding. The National Curriculum for English (1995) states that children should, 'be encouraged to respond imaginatively to the plot, characters, ideas, vocabulary and organisation of language in literature' (p.13 and 'be taught to use the characteristics of different kinds of writing' (p.15). The National Literacy Strategy (DfEE, 1998) points out that at Key Stage 2 teachers should be, 'focusing tightly on the text and looking at key aspects of character, action, plot or setting' (p. 5) and that children should, 'become increasingly conscious of the writer's intentions (p. 7).
Extractions: Books are the storehouses of human knowledge. An interactive system is a computer-based system that allows communication, between the system and the users. Interactive books and stories are those which allow a computer user to read, and in some way interact with, the book or story on their computer. The interaction may range from simply turning a page, or scrolling, to actually participating in the story in an active way by making choices that will change the path of the tale.
