The ABA is an incorporated association under the Victoria Associations Incorporation Act 1981 The ABA is a member federation of the International Biathlon Union (IBU), the body responsible for the management of Biathlon worldwide. The IBU recognises the ABA as the governing body for Biathlon in Australia. Coaching News Headlines In September 2003, the BEF appointed a Consultant Director of Coaching, Colin Wilson. The first task is to run a 12-month project to create, with the industry, a unified BEF-wide Coaching Development Plan . This is due to be published, subject to ratification by the BEF Board, in August 2004. The Plan aims to build on all that is good in teaching, instructing and training in the industry, while developing a modern, universally-respected Coaching Development system which may bring BEF Member Bodies closer together in their planning and co-ordination. This should enable the industry in the future to interface better with the Government and sports-wide initiatives, to access external support and resources for coaching development, and to provide an even better, coherent network of coaching services to the riding, driving and vaulting public. It is aimed at helping all people who enjoy horse sports and recreation, whether simply for pleasure, or whether they aspire to excellence and competitive success as well.
