    Extractions: Chemistry Labs, 1AL, 1BL and 1CL all use different lab manuals with the same knowledge that you learn from your corresponding chemistry lecture. Before each time you go to your chemistry lab skim through the lab completely. Then answer all the labs pre-lab questions. After completing the questions write the rest of your pre-lab which includes a Synopsis, Equipment and Procedure. The cooperative Chemistry labs are an alternative to the general chemistry lab that most of the freshman chemistry students take. In the cooperative chemistry lab there are three technique labs where the students learn the skills and techniques required for the projects. The technique labs are very similar to general chemistry labs, and in some cases are exactly the same as the general chemistry labs.

Professors DiMeglio and Ganapathi submitted a proposal to videotape six procedures for students to use for study and reference purposes both in and outside the lab. For the professors who teach these procedures regularly, understanding how to perform them is second nature. An initial challenge was translating the procedures from their minds into a comprehensive shooting script. Since the professors wanted students to have access outside the lab, a second challenge was to step outside the idea of a standard videotaped demonstration to a more dynamic concept of streaming video housed online and accessible at any time.
