Extractions: Peter Josephus Wilhelmus Debye was Dutch-American physicist greatly contributed to the theory of electrolyte solutions. He also studied dipole moments of molecules, advanced knowledge of the arrangement of atoms in molecules and of the distances between the atoms. In 1916 he showed that solid substances could be used in powdered form for X-ray study of their crystal structures, thus eliminating the difficult step of first preparing good crystals. Debye won Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 1936, "for his contributions to our knowledge of molecular structure through his investigations on dipole moments and on the diffraction of X-rays and electrons in gases".

(The SIRCh chapter titles are in boldface type; CHEMINFO main works are listed in bold capital letters.) Additional index terms are used sparingly in this index. Thus, there are far fewer terms that can be searched here as opposed to the thousands of words found in the full-text indexes on CHEMINFO. Nevertheless, a search for an Internet resource will often be more clearly focused in this index. Think of this as a back-of-the-book index. Select a Letter:

Please include a stamped envelope if an answer is wanted. My first experience with the Church of Scientology was in July of 1975. It was on a very warm evening in downtown Portland, Oregon, and I was waiting for a bus. A tall youngish man came up to me and asked if I would like to go to a free lecture on how to communicate better. I didn't have anything in particular to do and decided to go - I was curious what kind of trip this guy was gonna lay on mebut I figured (wrongly) that the place would probably be air conditioned. So I followed him to this large almost empty room on the second floor of a nearby building and was treated to a half hour or so monologue on the importance of affinity, reality, and communication, which made sense to me, and after a short sales pitch, signed up for the "communications course". The following day there were certain events that transpired which caused me to change my mind about taking this course, and after a brief but rather heated discussion, the guy who had taken my money gave back my money.

Extractions: List price: that's off! Average review score: Reviewing THE mystery book directory This is THE authoritative book on mystery book series written by women. It is such a pleasure to have this book and be able to look up a female author and find biographical information, books written with dates, etc., and to be able to have that informtion sorted in a number of ways. I carry the Detecting Women 3rd Edition paperback in my purse for visits to the book store and library but I copy information from the hardback, which is so much more extensive, into the paperback if I need to jot down a little more information. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If you love mysteries whether by male or female authors (there is a Detecting Men also), you need this book. Its guidance is invaluable. The Ultimate Guide This 3rd edition of Ms. Heising's invaluable reference guide to women mystery series writers, with 225 new authors, belongs in every mystery lover's home. As with Ms. Heising's previous edition of DW, as well as her excellent Detecting Men series guide, there are informative biographical entries and chronological book listings for every author. Ms. Heising also provides helpful cross reference guides, a list of award winners and nominees, author pseudonyms and a complete index to the book. This book is as much fun to read as a mystery novel. Who wrote it? Who won it? Who is it? You'll want this wonderful book close by at all times. It's the perfect mystery lovers' companion.
