Some belong to castles and great estates, others are associated with universities and scientific institutions. The great baroque castles, which have disappeared in many other countries, still retain their original garden styles. Old Gothic structures, remodeled many times over the centuries, are surrounded by vast parklands modeled after the great English landscape gardens. The tour will combine visits to some of the greatest and most beautiful places in the country. Special excursions such as tasting of delicious Moravian wines or private concerts of classical or folk music add our tours special taste. Arrival to Vienna (there is also possibility to start programme from Prague). Programme depends on the time of arrival or on the time of transfer to the Czech Republic. Transfer to southern Moravia and stop in the small medieval town of Mikulov. We may explore town, castle and easy walk to Pavlov Hills (UNESCO biospheric reserve for its unique flora and fauna). For accommodation we may move to the capital of Moravia Brno (appr. an hour of driving) where many hotels offer good standard (3stars and 4stars hotels). We may also stay for two nights in the hotel which is rebuilt from former chateau. Welcome dinner.

    Extractions: The architecture of the cities of Lithuania is like a mirror which contains a reflection of our history. The brick and walled castles of the Middle Ages comprise the oldest surviving monuments of Lithuanian architecture, attesting to the austere periods of the founding of the state. From the 14th century onwards, architecture began to be shaped by European traditions. All the styles of Europe, one after the other, reached the country, sometimes belatedly. In the 14th century, there was the early Gothic style, exemplified by the castle of the rulers in Trakai. In the 15th century, the late Gothic style marked the Church of St. Anne in Vilnius. (This was the church Napoleon admired so much that he wanted to see it relocated in Paris). During the Renaissance Period of the 16th century, cities began to be constructed according to a formal plan and structure. The Rulers' Palace of the Lower Castle in Vilnius (presently under reconstruction) dates from this period. The Baroque style took hold in Lithuania in the 17th century, and produced a vast number of masterpieces. The Baroko Kelias (Baroque Way), established throughout Lithuania in 1996 under the auspices of the Council of Europe, touched only a part of the treasure trove. Vilnius is sometimes alluded to as the Baroque capital of the entire region.

    Extractions: The villagers of Castle Rock Pueblo constructed a substantial number of buildings. All structures observed at the site were built of sandstone masonry. Remnants of buildings were found around the base of Castle Rock butte, on top of at least one large boulder, on a ledge midway up the north face of the butte, and on top of the butte.     Extractions: Restoration Project of the Castle of Cesvaine Cesvaine is situated in the South of Vidzeme, 180 km far from Riga – capital city in Republic of Latvia. The name of the town is created from six roads which cross here — Sechswegen (German). Going from Madona to Gulbene you can see the “Cesvaine s towers” greeting from the hill at a distance. The Cesvaine castle, occasionally referred to as the Cesvaine manor house, was built between 1894 and 1896 on the site of the 14th-century castle of the Archbishop of Riga, which was destroyed in 1577. In addition to being an outstanding example of Eclectic architecture, it is a monument with cultural and historical significance and much notable artwork. The building was commissioned by Adolf Gerhard Boris Emil von Wulf and designed by the German architects Hans Griesebach and August Dinklage. This unique work of art is the product of the architects' creativity and the abilities of highly skilled local craftsmen. The walls are made of split granite fieldstones, which are found locally. The rough-hewn surfaces of the walls and the smoothly worked stones of the architectonic details contrast natural and man-made beauty.

The first cities appeared in IX-X cc as castles and fortresses that were built to protect nearby population from the military invasions.
