I'm not sending anyone off to basic training at least not just yet. But I am going to ask for your support today in ways that may require you to take risks of a different sort. Many of you are key decision-makers in Canadian business and industry. Some of you are also suppliers to the Canadian military. To one degree or another, you are all 'stakeholders' in defence. And as such, I'm certain that you're curious to know what the future holds for the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces.

The facility also has a state-of-the-art customer pick-up centre. Those with questions about the facility should contact their Daisytek sales representative. Top of Page The incredible shrinking office space The trend in office size, at least in the U.S., is downward. In some cases, the change is drastic: PricewaterhouseCoopers, the big consulting and accounting firm, is moving from its current 1-million-square-foot digs into new offices in Manhattan this summer that give it only 200,000 square feet. And despite the severe drop in space, the company is keeping all of its 3,500 employees, thereby saving lots of money in rent but also breaking the long-held link between space and status. PricewaterhouseCoopers' new offices will have more common spaces and meeting rooms to encourage more teamwork and idea exchange. Meanwhile, the firm's executives and managers will have to do with smaller quarters: partners who had window offices with 250 square feet will move to interior spaces half that size, while managers will have offices reduced from 140 to 80 square feet.

Market Place Files - Hosed At The Pumps - Canadian Business Magazine Federal Gas Price Committee Recommendations. industry Canada s FAQ on TemperatureCompensation. The Reform Party s View. What canadian business Magazine Said. http://cbc.ca/consumers/market/files/cars/gasprice/canbiz.html
Extractions: BY David Menzies Next time you pull into a gas station for a fill-up, take a close look at the pump. Chances are, you'll spot a sticker proclaiming that the gas you're about to receive has been "Volume Corrected to 15°C." This cryptic message is actually a reference to a device within the pump called an Automated Temperature Compensator (ATC). The whiz-bang gizmo "corrects" the temperature of the gas to the "international standard" of 15°C. This is because gasoline, like most other liquids, expands when it's hot outside and contracts when it's cold. Thus, Canada's big oil companies convinced the measurement mandarins at Industry Canada that temperature-corrected gasoline would eliminate such irksome fluctuations. That's all well and good, except that, in Canada, temperature-corrected gasoline has translated into yet another way consumersand any businesses that operate or rely on vehiclesare being hosed at the pumps. At issue: while the gas is temperature-corrected to 15°C, Canada's average ambient air temperature is only 6°C. Since gas contracts by one-eighth of 1% for every 1°C drop in temperature, this means Canadiansmore often than notpay for fuel they don't receive. Indeed, during the cold weather months when gas contracts, motorists pay for 50 litres yet receive only 49 litres, says Manju Sekhri, a market analyst with the Independent Retail Gasoline Marketers Association of Canada (IRGMA).
