The venue has also been the site of national championships in biathlon and cross country. In February and March 2002, Soldier Hollow hosted 23 events during the Olympic Winter Games and 15 events during the Paralympic Winter Games. Soldier Hollow is unprecedented among world-class venues in that the terrain is open and less wooded ideal for spectators with about two-thirds of the course visible at all times.
