It is located in Tianjin, the biggest modern coastal city in North China, adjacent to Tianjin Binhai International Airport, and its school building cover a total area of 287,000m . Now the university is in the first-stage project of building a new area, in order to meet the requirement of China's civil aviation industry for professionals in its development. There are 4 colleges under CAUC: Mechanical and Electrical Engineering College, Air Traffic Management College, Management College and Adult Education College. They comprise 7 departments: Aeronautical Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department, Avionics Engineering Department, Airline Operation and Management Department, Air Navigation Department, Foreign Languages Department, Computer Science Department and Airport Engineering Department. Central Institute of Aviation Motors named after PI Baranov was founded by a decree of the Revolutionary Council of the USSR (Protocol No 27 of December 3, 1930). CIAM is a Federal State Unitary Enterprise. In 1994 the Russian Federation Government issued a decree which awarded CIAM named after PI Baranov a status of State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation. (The status was confirmed in 1997, 2000 and 2002). CIAM possesses a unique experimental base for tests of engines, their components and systems under simulated real operation conditions. The CIAM research test center (CIAM RTC) is the only Russian and largest in Europe center for altitude, speed, and special tests of full-scale air breathing engines. CIAM RTC can be compared by its experimental possibilities only with Arnold and Lewis centers in the USA. A CIAM branch was built in the beginning of 50s in Lytkarino of Moscow region, and in 1995 was transformed into a state daughter enterprise.
