Extractions: - Thomas J Watson Sr (1926-1956) The new Australian operation had a humble start. Fortunately for IBM, it's time recording equipment and weighing scales were useful aids for companies aiming to improve their productivity and fight off the nation's economic downturn. By the end of the war, IBM Australia was showing the modest annual profit of £2,000 and was ready for percentage growth. And Australia was ready for the era of computing. A new era began in 1956 when Thomas J Watson Jr became Chief Executive Officer of IBM. The younger Watson set the company on an ambitious program to develop a radical kind of computer that would set a new benchmark for the industry. At the System/360 launch in 1964, Fortune magazine dubbed the machine "IBM's $5 billion gamble". It didn't take long for the wager to pay off handsomely. The company introduced systems for small offices, including the portable 5100 and the System/32, leading to the formation of the Australian company's general Business Group in 1975.

Australian Broomball Official site for New South Wales and australian Broomball. Statistics, gear, and information on the ice sport. http://www.broomball.com.au
Extractions: Defence was the order of the night, both teams careful not to be scored on. The difference in this tight struggle, 1 goal to Ninja Peter Yabsley. Pirates had the better of the chances in the second half but NInjas ground out the single goal win and move to third on the ladder. Pirates in 6th but only 5 points behind 2nd place Phantoms. In fact only 8 points seperate 1st to 7th in what is probably the closest A division season yet. 4 games for each team to go and the final 4 will be anyones guess. Long hard struggle this game, very fast but no goals. Best chance of the night came for Sonics in the second half when the ball got hidden in the keepers legs, popped out, half cleared, shot, saved, rebounded, saved, and finally pushed to the back wall for Slytherin to clear. Towards the end Tim Teabags Brown was hanging around halfway looking for the cherry pick goal. He got one break but desparate defence ran him down. 0-0 into OT. The same general cautious play in OT, possession gold. Tim Teabags made the break and shot.. just coming off keeper Beth Hines shoulder.. an inch higher it would have been a goal and an OT win for Sonics. Instead Slytering cleared and broke on goals with Dane Hansen and Ryan Findlayson passing the ball between themselves for Dane to finish as his last breath left his body. A 1-0 Ot win for Syltherin taking them back to the top of the A division table.
TAFTA Providing publications, conferences and workshops for textile craftspeople. Contains conference and magazine subscription information, editor background, news and events. http://www.ggcreations.com.au/tafta/
Extractions: The Australian Forum for Textile Arts, Ltd (TAFTA) was started in 1974 at a meeting held at Sturt Crafts Centre, Mittagong, New South Wales. Twenty-five people attended, a main topic for discussion was the lack of trained textile teachers in the crafts. Six formative years followed, with many topics being considered; then Brisbane hosted FORUM '80, concentrating on workshops, and communication among a wide variety of textile craftspeople. A number of things resulted from this conference, including the decision to go ahead with a magazine, 'Fibre Forum' - which has now become TEXTILE Fibre Forum Since those early days there have been many more developments: 'FORUM' conferences continued and demand increased - it is now the policy to hold annual conferences at Frensham School/Sturt Crafts Centre, Mittagong, NSW just after Easter each year - and a second annual 'FORUM' in Geelong, Victoria started up in the Year 2000, always to be held in late September/early October. As well there are Regional FORUM conferences now, much further afield: Western Australia, Alice Springs and Darwin in the Northern Territory, Adelaide, Tasmania....all have been hosts for these smaller (but incredibly vital) gatherings - cultural tourism at its finest.

Extractions: Yeah , I know you heard that a Swagman is a bum, a Swag is a rolled up blanket, a Jumbuck is a sheep and a Billabong is where the Swagman jumped into and drowned instead of going to jail for three days for knocking off the hind quarter of a sheep, whilst three burly Queensland coppers sat on horseback and watched him drown. Well! that one tale, however that's a hell of a long way from what Banjo Paterson was actually writing about when he penned Waltzing Matilda at old Dagworth Homestead in January 1895. But first, a brief introduction to your guide for your waltz into cyberspace, Australia's own Dennis O'Keeffe.

Flower Essences From The Australian Bush Information about and supply of australian plant remedies. Email diagnosis available. http://kavenga.com/flower essences home.htm
Extractions: agreement Kangaroo Paw Flower Essences -also called Flower Remedies- are prepared in Australia by Ian White from wild plants. They work on our state of mind, on the emotional level and will help us keep our life running on course by re-establishing our inner balance. They make us feel better by giving us inner balance and harmony. We have taken them for many years ourselves. The healing properties of flowers have been used for thousands of years. Australian Aborigines, ancient Egyptians and many other cultures knew of these healing properties. In the 15th century Paracelsus treated emotional imbalances with dew collected from plants. Dr Edward Bach discovered the healing properties of English plants for the modern world sixty years ago and Ian White is continuing his work. Australia is the oldest continent on Earth. The plants of Australia have a deep beauty and strength. They grow on the oldest soil. Whenever you walk through the rainforest, through the hot Outback or on a high alpine meadow you can feel the strength of this land and every living thing around you. It is this strength that these uniquely Australian remedies use to help you heal yourself.
