The Spaces And Subjects Of A Global Economy Subjects of a Globalising economy A situated exploration of against australian banks, indicating the emergence of an Australasian conception of the banking sector. Moreover http://www.isanet.org/noarchive/larnerheron.html
Extractions: Abstract This paper, written by two New Zealand political economists, aspires to develop a situated method in order to interrogate the spaces and subjects of the globalising economy. In our brief review of the social science literatures on economic globalisation, we identify a promising intellectual convergence around the theme of imaginaries. We develop an argument that global imaginaries involve both discourses and practices that are, in turn, constitutive of new spaces and subjects. After discussing the significance of benchmarking and allied practices to these processes, we demonstrate how our method might inform a case study of the globalising retail banking sector in New Zealand by revealing emergent multiple spaces and subjects. Key words: New Zealand, globalisation, benchmarking, spaces, subjectivities, retail banking.
