Extractions: Press Release July 11, 2001 During May and June, the Compliance Office and the IU Athletics Webmaster made a concerted effort to get many of the NCAA rules regarding recruiting, extra benefits, boosters, gambling and agents online at the Indiana Athletics website. The information is easily accessible and searchable: if you type "compliance" plus a keyword into the search box on the main page you will hopefully find the rules and any interpretations on whatever topic you are researching. The NCAA principle on rules compliance provides that members of Indiana University's staff, student-athletes, and other individuals and groups representing Indiana's athletics interests shall comply with the applicable NCAA rules, and that Indiana University is responsible for such compliance. This website is one of many resources that we hope our constituents use to ensure that their actions are within the intent of the rules. Perhaps it is true that time does go fast when you are having fun, because if there is one thing Yoculan has had during her Georgia tenure it is fun. "You would think after 18 years that you might be a little bit jaded, particularly given the success that we have had, but that is not the case2 said Yoculan, who last year led Georgia to its 13th top-three finish in the last 15 years.

Extractions: After exemplifying spirit for WSU's cheerleading squad for five years, Heather Gartner is calling it quits, for a good reason. She is graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing after spring quarter. After graduation, Heather plans to move back home to Chillicothe, OH and become a surgical assistant. Of all that she is leaving behind, she will miss her sister and best friend Sabrina the most. Sabrina became a member of the squad just one year after Heather. The exercise science major is currently in her fourth year at Wright State. She's unsure of her future cheering plans, but does have one year of eligibility remaining. Sabrina hopes to one day work in therapy or nutrition. Tight bonds with family might pull her home after graduation, too.

AIR SPORTS INTERNATIONAL focus on the individual names and personalities of the mind making the best arrangements for the athletes. 30 international sports federations make up the IWGA http://airsports.fai.org/oct2001/oct200013.html
Extractions: FAI's Skydiving Events are the Highlight of the World Games 2001 Eighteen months ago, the IPC adopted the following new Mission Statement: "The IPC's goal is to develop its sporting disciplines into events which are attractive to the athletes, to the event organizers, to the public, to the media, and to sponsors - thereby increasing participation at IPC events, increasing public viewing of IPC events, and increasing income within the sport." During the parachuting events of the 6th World Games in Akita, Japan - August 16-20, 2001 - many of these goals were accomplished in one fell swoop. The World Games are the quadrennial sports event conducted by the International World Games Association. The competitors are athletes from 30 international sports federations whose disciplines have been recognized as "Olympic Sports" by the IOC (International Olympic Committee), but are not (yet) part of the official program of the Olympic Games. Every four years, the World Games are held to give an opportunity for 4000 of the top IWGA athletes to compete in a multi-sports environment on a global stage. In October 2000, the IOC signed an agreement with IWGA whereby the World Games are now conducted "Under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee." As part of this relationship, it is presumably the IOC's intention that new sports will enter the Olympic Program only via the IWGA. The IWGA will essentially serve as a farm team for the IOC. IWGA sports which are most attractive to the IOC will have the opportunity to move into the Olympics, and the less attractive sports currently in the Olympics will risk being moved to the World Games.
