Technology Counts: Arizona arizona s main technology goal for k12 schools is for every studentto have equitable Internet access by June 1999. To date, between http://www.edweek.org/sreports/tc/policy/states/az.htm
Extractions: Arizona's schools are clearly hungry for technology. The state education department wanted to give away nine donated multimedia projectors earlier this year. It received 142 applications from districts and schools. Join our on-line Town Meeting to discuss what role technology should play in education reform. But for a variety of political and financial reasons, larger-scale state support for technology has been slow in coming. "Most large school systems are pretty well ahead," says Hank Stabler, the technology director for the 29,000-student Peoria Unified school district, one of the state's larger suburban systems. "The community demands it and passes bonds to fund it. But within smaller school systems, there's a huge range." State Education Agency Web Site:

Unfortunately there has been nothing but trouble with this Lpage (basically the guy has turned it into a commercial service and to make sure he gets paid, the freebie one quits working all the time). Here's what you can TRY to get Indian keypals (most Indian schools so far do not have emailboxes for the kids). Access the various school webpages here, and email the computer teacher, whose name is (usually) on it for Webmaster. Ask if they are interested in keypals with your students, and how it should be arranged.

Extractions: Replacing Arizonas Roofs by Michael Fickes Have you evaluated the condition of your schools roof lately? If not, you might consider taking a look up there before someone else does. During a state-mandated inspection of K-12 schools across Arizona, for example, consultants examining one building found that a young but fully formed tree had taken root on a section of roof cluttered with dirt and debris. Apparently, no one had checked that roof for several years. Nor has that tree proven to be an anomaly in Arizona. Many of the states public schools require substantial roof maintenance if not complete roof replacements. What's Up?

Extractions: Automating Common Core of Data Report Generation The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) received task order funding to create a completely automated CCD extraction tool. In addition to developing the extraction tool to compile the data, the data will be assembled into a Data Mart, which would provide access to the data through a versatile Reporting Tool designed for the generation of CCD reports. This data tool would work well with the data system already developed in the Student Accountability Information System, which includes a central database for all Arizona K-12 school districts and charter schools.
