Project Interface 2000 is a federal grant supporting teachers for this group of students. The purpose of Project Interface 2000 is to recruit and train 25-30 educators to serve Hispanic and Native-American students with special learning needs. Personnel trained in Project Interface 2000 will be able to assume the role of educational diagnostician and/or teacher of LEP/bilingual students with disabilities in a variety of educational settings. This competency based program of study will be provided through an interdisciplinary collaborative effort between the Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation and School Psychology, the Department of Language, Reading and Culture, the Department of Teaching and Teacher Education, and the Department of English. The project provides students with: a high quality pre-service program with course work in special education, learning disabilities, bilingual education, and English as a second language that reflects the use of current research-based assessment and intervention practices.

JANE MURPHY - Jane Murphy is a classroom teacher for District 75 CityWide Special Education in New York City. She is currently working with a team of teachers to launch a pilot inclusive education program to adapt two community classrooms for children with and without identified special needs representing a range of emotional, social and cognitive functioning, as well as physical and learning disabilities.
