The house and furnishings were designed by Charles and Henry Greene in 1908 for David and Mary Gamble of the Procter and Gamble Company. The house, a National Historic Landmark, is owned by the City of Pasadena and operated by the University of Southern California and is open for public tours The Gamble House exterior restoration is underway with the objectives of mitigating the effects of 95 years of exposure to sun and weather, and preserving the historic fabric into the future. Diseased wood and rot is being removed from 262 Douglas fir rafter tails and beam-ends. Estimated completion date for exterior work is July, 2004. Restoration photos April 2004 Jan. 2004 Oct. 2003 NOTE We are open for tours during the restoration.
