Extractions: That's why it's called the present! This Logo is from the Pals webring on my home page please take a look. I was diagnosed in 1985 and can still walk and do some thing's for myself so I consider myself very lucky. When diagnosed I was 37 and had symtoms 2 yr's pryor, and now I'm 56 yr's young. I can still remember the day the doc came in and told me the news, I was in the hospital recovering from my second spinal fusion. It was 7am and he walked in the room and said his name and that I had ALS, my neuro had asked his opinion and he wasnt bashful about giving it. While laying there thinking about it, I said what do I do now, with 2 daughters to raise it seemed like only one way to go and that way was Forward and don't look back. They really gave me a reason to go on and still do today. It has helped me a lot "TRYING" to have a good outlook and think positive. There is always time to think about being sick so I try to do something to keep my mind occupied, but on the not so good days this little guy reminds me of myself

Extractions: Some time after that, a few months maybe, I started having some speech problems..stuttering/stammering It seemed like I was having trouble getting my tongue to work the way it needed to like a muscle problem. As time went by I also noticed some unsteadiness. I began to think there might be some relationship among all these symptoms. Then I started noticing some additional balance problems..minor but not normal. I lost my balance when I squatted down by the edge of the pool, and fell in..with my clothes on. I rounded the corner into the den.. and I fell flat. I didnt react in time to catch myself..not even close. Around that same time, I started having leg problems it seemed to give out on me..and then the muscle would tighten and Id catch myself. Except one day, in the parking garage, it didn't catch and I fell into the back of a parked car. In August of 1998, my wife and I took a trip to Germany. During this time I noticed that my gait was not measured..and giving me more problems.
