The school has superb outdoor facilities, including an Astroturf hockey pitch and three netball courts. In summer, these surfaces are transformed into eleven tennis courts. The floodlights covering both areas give girls the added opportunity of playing in extra-curricular time throughout the winter. In addition, the school field is used for football, rugby and athletics. There is a strong tradition of dance through the school. Two years ago many girls were involved in a highly successful gym and dance show and an equally successful dance tour to Italy. Key Stage 3 Games - In Years 7, 8 and 9, girls study the three families of games - invasion, net and striking. In the autumn and spring terms, an equal amount of time is given to netball and hockey. The overall standard of performance and understanding reached by the end of Year 9 in both of these invasion games is exceptionally high. Gymnastics - The girls study gymnastics throughout Key Stage 3, easily covering the requirements for the National Curriculum, developing their individual skills and their ability to plan, perform and evaluate sequences with and without apparatus.
