Born in Catania, Sicily; died c. 1386. He joined the Benedictines at San Martino della Scala in Palermo, and influenced all the Sicilian Benedictine abbeys in restoring monastic observance (Benedictines, Encyclopedia). (also known as Antony Chimura) Died 1619; beatified in 1867. Blessed Antony Kimura, Bartholomew Xeki, John Ivanango, John Montajana, Leo Nacanixi, Michael Takexita, and Thomas Cotenda were all born into Japanese royal family of Firando. (Antony is also a relative of Blessed Leonard Kimura (November 18), who was burned to death at Nagasaki.) All six native laymen and four other companions were beheaded at Nagasaki. Antony was only 23; Michael, described as a man of most amiable character, only 25. Thomas was educated by the Jesuits and lived in exile at Nagasaki until his beheading (Benedictines). This doubt was further increased by a visit for conference to the famous Bishop Cheverus, then a priest in Boston , and the inability of his Episcopalian associates to offer any satisfactory refutation of the arguments advanced by the Catholic priest. Father Cheverus also gave him a number of Catholic books, which he and the other members of his family read eagerly. Mrs. Daniel Barber was a woman of great strength of mind and resolution. She died in her seventy-ninth year, 8 February, 1825. Her husband was not baptized with her, but on the fifteenth of November, 1818 gave up his place as minister of the Episcopalian parish of Claremont. He then went to visit friends in Maryland and Washington, where he took the final step and entered the Church. He spent the rest of his life, after the death of his wife, in Maryland and Pennsylvania, near his son Virgil, and he died in 1834 at the house of the Society of Jesus at Saint Inigoes, Maryland. Two pamphlets, printed at Washington, "Catholic Worships and Piety Explained and Recommended in Sundry Letters to a Very Dear Friend and Others" (1821), and "History of My Own Times", give interesting details of his life and show him to have been honest in his convictions and earnestly desirous of knowing the truth and disposed to embrace it when found.

When fellow Canadian Paul DelGrande offered his F coupe to Ken in 1998, the purchase was arranged. The body-off-frame restoration began at Len Woodrow's shop in nearby St. Catharines. Len is no stranger to these cars, having restored Paul DelGrande's F convertible just a few years ago. It was during the first years of Virgil's restoration that a brief moment of sanity came to Ken; he sold Virgil. I did not share in that moment of sanity; I bought Virgil. Len continued the restoration of Virgil until September 20th, 2003 when Paul, Ken, and Len delivered Virgil to Golden Lion Grrrages here in central New York. Paul had recently purchased a new Hummer H2, a new 86 foot enclosed trailer, and six thousand shares of Exxon Petroleum. Feeling the need to exercise all his new investments concurrently, Paul took the Hummer, filled the tank with 245 liters of Exxon high test, hooked up the 86 foot trailer, and hauled Virgil from Len's. Paul made the 175-mile trip in 2 hours 17 minutes and 35 seconds, which is only 24 days 6 hours and 2 minutes shorter than his first marriage. At 75 MPH with the trailer in tow, the Hummer H2 used enough fuel to supply Albania for a week. The Hummer has no trouble towing, but Paul keeps wearing out the bearings in the fuel gage.
