From 1978 to 1980 he carried out postdoctoral work at Bell Laboratories. He joined the faculty of the University of Minnesota in 1980, achieving the rank of full professor in 1990. Who Dunnit Home Read Our Latest Review by: Dennis Lehane Some time ago a lady named Barbara Ovstedahl wrote novels uner the name of Barbara Paul, abandoning the fake name when our Barbara Paul appeared on the fictional scene. That original lady's work is still sometimes confused with the later one, but Ms. Paul says there's an easy way to tell the difference: If it's a romance novel, she wrote it. If it's a mystery or science fiction, I did. Barbara Paul has written twenty-one previous murder mysteries. Her novel, Kill Fee, was made into a television movie. What remains surprising for such a talented storyteller is Barbara Paul’s lack of appropriate titles – especially for this book. One can think of a number of more suitable labels after reading the content than Full Frontal Murder. However inappropriate, the title doesn’t obscure the solid impact the book provides. Barbara Paul presently lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As far as I can tell, no information is available about where or when she was born.

LSI was established on December 1, 1998, when the Barbara group moved from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Minnesota ( photos of the labs ). Among the research topics are ultrafast spectroscopy of chemical reactions and molecular dynamics in liquids, near field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM) of organic thin films, and single molecule spectroscopy and imaging of conjugated Polymers and RNA/Protein interactions. MICROSCOPY : Our microscopy lab consists of several types of scanning probe microscopes including NSOM, AFM and STM. We also have a sample scanning confocal microscope and are currently building a second confocal scope with increased capabilities. We have devoted a great amount of effort toward understanding photo-activated processes in multi-chromophoric conjugated polymer films and the photophyscial behavior of individual single chromophore molecules. ULTRAFAST SPECTROSCOPY : Femtosecond to nanosecond spectroscopy of molecules in solution has been a long standing research area in our group. We currently have two amplified Ti:Sapphire systems and optical parametric amplifiers enabling us to do a multitude of different experimental techniques. We have focused on studies involving charge transfer, electron transfer in DNA and the dynamics of the solvated electron.
