Extractions: A novel about desire, secret histories and psychic insects. Parry is the only person who sees the saucers hovering over Bigger Amusement World. Since he's dressed as a giant rabbit and suffering a bit from the heat in his funfur suit, nobody believes him. But the creatures flying the saucers have got their own ideas about how things are going to be in the Amusement World...
Pulp Books. Their Heads Are Anonymous. Sample Parry s colossal head alistair gentry. Parry was dressed as a rabbit onthat hot afternoon. From Their Heads Are Anonymous by alistair gentry. http://www.pulpfact.demon.co.uk/PulpBooks/TheirHeads/sample.html
Extractions: Parry was dressed as a rabbit on that hot afternoon. A rabbit with a name and a history. Gogo Bunny, one of the Bigger entertainment empire's roster of trademarked bringers of joy. Not in the same league as Maggie Gnu or Zero the Dog, to be sure, but popular as adorably anthropomorphisized mammals went. Self-obsolescent lunch boxes, plastic tubes dispensing bland powdery sweets, stationery for teenage girls, polystyrene flavoured cereal; all these things and thousands of others bore images of the rabbit's big stupid head. Gogo was a nature spirit, a free-wheeling kind of guy in touch with his inner lagomorphic drives. Inside his fuzzy skin was a pissed off, overheated, sweating primate in his twenties whose job required him to wander through Bigger Amusement World dressed in thick grey funfur tat. Parry was determined to get through each day as best he could with minimum abrasion; the days he succeeded he went to bed if not a happy man, then at least a not unhappy one. As he absently observed a group of South Asian Americans in their twenties eating clammy pre-filled lettuce and brie baguettes, he allowed himself to enjoy the strange kind of comfort which was sometimes to be found in the rank combination of cave and baked potato in a microwave that was Gogo Bunny's head. Ludicrous as it was the costume gave him a sense of identity through his very anonymity (I am not this stupid thing, I just wear his body, it is not my fault) and airless as it was it provided him with some breathing space. A space in which he didn't have to think. He liked that sometimes.

Interstanding 4: End Repeat alistair gentry Writer and artist. Previous work includes experimentalprogrammes for radio, digital images, short stories, and two novels. http://www.interstanding.ee/i4/people/gentry.html
Extractions: No matter what medium it is in, most of Alistair's work has elements of modularity and randomness in its form. The content usually derives from an interest in and concern over the degree to which many people ignore the surveillance and information technology that now cocoons them twenty-four hours a day. NonAmbient is an infinite, self-generating sound work about the motorised, mechanical, electrical and electronic voices of the environments we build and create for ourselves. Through examining and digitally processing many hours of recordings made in and around Stirling, sounds have been extracted, magnified and looped to become components of a greater whole. Some of these sounds are recognisable and familiar, but others come from frequencies and levels of volume beyond normal human hearing or awareness. There are nearly one million possible permutations of the sounds that have been discovered through this process. The software will navigate its way through all of them eventually.

Extractions: Alistairs, Princes Street Alistair Mackenzie, the cheery man with the shop-keeping mam reigned on the corner of Princes Street and Glasgow Street for over 5 years in the early eighties. Be-spectacled and always up for a genial conversation - Alistair was the Raymond Loughrie of newsagents; bought the shop after the financial failure of his toy shop in Countess Street, Saltcoats. Featuring shelves stocked with everything from Amateur Rectologist to Wino's Weekly , the shops focal point was furlongs adrift from the town's down market aspirations and desires. Above : Feb 2000. Once the gentry of the town's corner shops - the building benefits from a facial make-over - but has sadly declined along with the town. This is where to stand if you've got nothing better to do, and no money for Carlsberg Special Brew. In 1986 Alistair allegedly bought a large train set and moved to Kilmarnock. The shop was sold to new owners in 1986, and featured a life-size WWF celebrity in the window for most of the 1990's. A fine collection of sweeties, and the town's only stockist of The Guardian on a Saturday.

The Children Of The Mist - The Art Of Alistair Ferrie At least the country gentry would know where the poachers were that night! Alistairshares, a wee boyhood story about a Traveller who passed by our door. http://www.clangregor.org/clancorner-alistairf.html
Extractions: Na Bealach Nam Bo The Travelling People: a rapidly diminishing part of Scottish life Alistair reports that the Travelling People, also known as Tinkers or Tinks, are "itinerant workers of the land...own no property and are devoid of material desire. They believe everything they need is provided by God's good grace and yet, have no religious convictions nor affiliations. There is an unwritten practice when Travellers pass by, the men will offer to work for a day or two no task, however laborious, is refused - whilst the women and children attend to less strenuous tasks. Terms of payment? Old clothes, footwear, useful items such as pots & pans etc. Although a few pounds would be accepted, their preference is barter...a day or two's work in return for items of practical use." Dr. Richard McGregor, of the Clan Gregor Society, has made a genealogical study of the Travelling People (who often included MacGregors). He found that for the most part, they received a lot of bad press that seemed to originated in Victorian times - the late 1800s. Since they had no permanent homes they were considered uncivilized and were often treated as outcasts.
