Fedor Andreev I saw fedor andreev for the first time when I received Celebration of fedor was just13 years old back then It was his first time out there on the ice in font http://www.stefkasworld.de/fedor.html
Extractions: I saw Fedor Andreev for the first time when I received "Celebration of a Life - A Tribute to Sergei Grinkov" on tape. Fedor was just 13 years old back then. But what an impressive debut did he make. It was his first time out there on the ice in font of a 'big' crowd, during one of the most emotional skating shows ever, and he skated a flawless program to a piano piece by Scriabian (his Novice level SP). It must have been an incredible experience for him: skating with the sports biggest names (like Kurt Browning, Scott Hamilton, Viktor Petrenko etc.), honouring his great friend Sergei Grinkov. I definitely wanted to see his skating. Especially after I had heard other people raving about his artistry. In 2000, I got hold of a tape with 2000 Canadian Nationals. His SP wasn't too impressive as he had problems with his jumps and placed only 9th. But his LP was outstanding. He nailed every jump and it was simply amazing to watch him perform. Not just because of the jumps but due to the other aspects of his skating: the spins, his posture and, especially, his graceful arm movements. I don't think there is right now any other skater who is able to interpret classical music like Fedor does. Every movement of his body fits the music perfectly. He has such a great musicality which makes everything look so easy. No wonder, he brought the house down with his LP at these Canadian Nationals.

Extractions: NOW Mexico Ushers In a New Era by Laurie Nealin Ricardo Olivarrieta concedes it hasn't been easy being a figure skater in Mexico the past 14 years. Kind of like being on the Jamaican bobsled team? "Yes," he agrees, smiling broadly as he considers the analogy. "With one exception. I never ended upside down on the track," Mexico's most experienced skater says. "I always had the minimum requirements." After 10 years on top, Olivarietta, now 27, lost his national title to Monterrey's David del Pozo, 22, last November. Still, Olivarietta, who holds a degree in international relations and spent the fall and winter studying in Canada and the United States, is one of the driving forces behind a concerted effort to raise the standard and profile of figure skating in his country. With ice rinks in only eight cities and a skating federation membership of just 1,100 athletes in a country of 85 million people, Olivarrieta says, the Mexican public sees ice skating more as a "novelty" than serious sport. Ten years from now, however, he hopes it will be a different story. Last September, Mexico took its first big step toward rewriting that story, when the country hosted its first major international event since the Mexican Federation of Ice Sports was founded in 1986.

Extractions: Home Profile Record Articles ... Miscellaneous It was a tremendous night for Newfoundland skating fans, a fantastic atmosphere in a near sold out mile One Stadium. The format was fairly simple - an opening number, and then a mix of performances from local skaters and the "stars" brought in. Each of the headliners did a number each in each half of the show, most of the local did a single number, with a couple doing two. Some impressions of the local skaters - they by no means looked out of place in the more illustrious company, showing a few nerves and a high degree of showmanship. We got to see three pairs, Whitney Young and Shawn Verasammy, novice level, a fine entertaining skate, Kaitlin Greening and Neil Young, and Ryan Sutherland and Alison Noseworthy. The latter two are competing Junior this year, both new pairings. The changes seem to suit everybody, with both Neil and Kaitlin, and Ryan and Alison looking well matched on the ice. Ryan and Alison landed side by side double axels in their number, and Neil and Kaitlin skated with much musicality in their first number. It will be interesting to see how they fare nationally this year. Corey Sutherland got a great reception with his homage to Kurt - skating to Brickhouse, with some choreography and costumimg looking very familiar to those who remember Kurt's piece to the same music. Joey Russell (last year's pre-novice silver medalist at Jr Nationals) skated a beautifully interpreted programme to Mr Cellophane from Chicago, Alyssa Crosbie did two sparkling numbers, and 10 year old Natasha Osmond was a crowd favourite with her Barbie Girl number. The Mount Pearl Starlites showcased their new programme with their usual flair, and the Provincial team members did some nice group work..

"I think we made the right choice", she continued with reference to their change of coaches earlier this year. "We improved our edge quality. It will get better, right now we're very happy with the progress we've made." The Lithuanians presented a passionate Free Dance set to the song "Quelques Cris" by Johnny Halliday that contained innovative lifts and intricate footwork. Their marks went up to 5.5 for technical merit and up to 5.7 for presentation, but they dropped to third. "We are very happy with the way we've skated", Vanagas commented. The Israelis received four second place ordinals and three third place ordinals, while the Lithuanians had three second places, three third places and one fourth.
