Extractions: Former NHL goaltender Wendell Young has always been dedicated to the game of hockey. His impressive record including 18 career shutouts, 169 career wins, and being the only player in the history of professional hockey to win the Stanley Cup (1991, 1992), Turner Cup (1998, 2000) the Calder Cup (1988) and the Memorial Cup (1981) are a testament to his love of the game, incredible talent and dedication. Today Wendell announced his commitment to join forces with a group of Michigan Businessmen to further encourage youths to join the sport of hockey. Their new endeavor is designed to teach kids to put the puck into the net - right in their own front yard - or garage door to be exact. Hockey is a sport that takes a lot of precision that only comes from hours of practice, says Young. It is also an expensive proposition for families to be able to afford a few hundred bucks for a net set up even then, it still takes two kids to play one to shoot and one to goaltend. Our new Garage Door Sports product is inexpensive and allows kids to practice by themselves and develop a great shot. Dan Fenwick, an executive with Garage Door Sports, based in Charlevoix, feels his team has developed a winning product. We have worked to produce a fun and affordable product for kids of all ages that love sports and want to stay active and improve on their game. And we believe that parents, especially in todays environment want kids to super achieve, but do so while in the safe confines of their own yard. This product fills that very important niche. says Fenwick.

Dettman/Chicago Wolves A veteran of 18 seasons, Young has been with the Wolves since their start and has been a player on six championship teams in four different hockey leagues. Wendell Young has been a professional goaltender since 1983, and has a penchant for winning championships. In his junior hockey days in the Ontario Hockey League, Young won the Memorial Cup. During the 1987-88 season, Wendell led the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League to the Calder Cup. That season, he was also named the leagues top goaltender as well as the playoff MVP. A few seasons later, Young won what all hockey players dream ofthe Stanley Cup. As a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, he won back-to-back championships in 1991 and 1992. And in 1998 and 2000, Young won the Turner Cup as a member of the Chicago Wolves. He is the only goaltender to win a championship in the OHL, AHL, IHL and NHL. Young has played a staggering 284 games for the Wolves in the past six years. He is also one of two players to be with the Wolves since their inception in 1994. Now in his 18 th season of pro hockey, he still shows great poise, having started the majority of games this season. He posted three shutouts this year, and was named IHL Goaltender of the Week for two weeks in March.
