Feel free to discuss all of the action at our "AHL Talk Board" Enjoy!! With the loss of Luongo the Islanders fall from the top spot and Vancouver with 2 of the top 3 prospects in the game jumps to #1. The Sedins are not all the Canucks have though as they have several other solid prospects in their farm system, namely D Bryan Allen, C Harold Druken, C Nathan Smith, C Josh Holden, D David Ytfeldt, LW Jarkko Ruutu etc... Although Allen has had some injury problems he is still young and can still become a solid NHL contributor. Druken has already showed he can play in the NHL when he put up 7G 9A 16Pts in 33 games last year and looks to have a breakout year this year. Smith the #1 pick this year looks to be a good 2-way player and although some questioned Vancouver for picking him that high he may surprise some people. The only thing lacking in the Vancouver Farm System is a top-notch goalie as there best goalie prospect Alfie Michaud is not expected to be an NHL starter.

Extractions: For the second time this season, the Barons used a big third period performance to knock off the San Antonio Rampage. Trailing 2-1 after the second period, the Barons used three goals by Doug Murray, Miroslav Zalesak and Craig Valette to lead Cleveland to victory. The goals by Murray and Zalesak came during an impressive 1:17 stretch at the beginning of the final period in a 4-on-4 situation. Back on October 23rd, the Barons outscored the Rampage 6-0 in the third period en route to a 7-1 victory in San Antonio. The loss Thursday night marked the first game this season that the Rampage lost while leading after two periods (12-1-2-0). The offensive hero for the Barons was Marcel Goc who scored the first goal of the game and picked up an assist on Murray's goal. Midway through the first period, Goc found himself pinned behind the San Antonio goal. He broke loose from the defender and moved to the front of the net, able to push the puck past Rampage goalie Brent Krahn to put Cleveland in front 1-0 at that point. Defenseman Doug Murray continued to rack up impressive teeth-rattling checks including an open ice "pancake" of Denis Shvidki in the second period. Nolan Schaefer was impressive in goal for the Barons recording 35 saves. His save of the game came with 7 minutes left in the first period as he made a whirling glove save of a Michel Periard shot from close range. Kent Huskins earned third star honors for San Antonio as he registered 2 goals.

Like many others who attracted attention with their offensive skills, Worrell was handed the role of defensive checker and intimidator upon breaking into the big time. He wants to improve his scoring ability but he knows his team needs him to use his 6-foot 6-inch, 235-pound body to control the boards, win the battles in the corners, crash the net, and provide behavioral modification to opponents who take liberties with his teammates.

Florida Panthers--Press Box-News between the Boston Bruins and Providence Bruins of the American hockey League DenisShvidki is obviously a very talented firstround pick who showed flashes of http://www.flpanthers.com/pressbox/news/072403hordichuk.shtml
Extractions: SUNRISE, FLA. - Florida Panthers General Manager Rick Dudley announced today that the club has re-signed restricted free agents LW Darcy Hordichuk and RW Denis Shvidki to one-year contracts. Dudley also announced that the Panthers have signed RW Lee Goren to a one-year contract. As per club policy, financial details of the pacts were not disclosed. Hordichuk, 22, was acquired from the Phoenix Coyotes last season along with a second- round draft pick in the 2003 NHL Entry draft in exchange for D Brad Ference. Shvidki, 22, was Florida's first choice (12th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Goren, 25, was an unrestricted free agent that split time last season between the Boston Bruins and Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. "We're very excited to announce today's signings," stated Dudley. "Darcy Hordichuk is a tough kid and by nature he's somewhat of a pugilist. We think he can really bang, we think he's smart enough to play both ends and he's a guy that always provides energy for the players and the fans. Denis Shvidki is obviously a very talented first-round pick who showed flashes of brilliance last year. He needs to show that brilliance on a consistent level. He's got the talent and he's got the ability. Lee Goren is a very big kid with a nice touch and an edge to his game. We think that at worst he's a very good callup, but at best he's an NHL scoring winger with size."
