Extractions: McCabe was called out for an incident with the Canucks' Todd Bertuzzi in Vancouver during the Leafs' 1-0 win. The two became entangled in front of the net and then exchanged gloved pushes with McCabe eventually flopping to the ice. Bertuzzi was given a two-minute minor for holding. McCabe escaped punishment until now.
Extractions: OTTAWA (Ticker) The Ottawa Senators lost on a number of fronts in their rematch with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Owen Nolan scored with 31 seconds left in overtime as Toronto overcame a four-goal deficit for a 5-4 triumph over Ottawa, which lost All-Star Marian Hossa to a facial injury early in the contest. Nolan scored the game-winner off a beautiful drop pass by defenseman Tomas Kaberle, who also set up the tying goal with just over five minutes left in regulation. Nolan pounced on the pass and rifled a slap shot from the top of the left faceoff circle that beat Ottawa goaltender Patrick Lalime low to the stick side. "It was a 3-on-2 and Kabby took it wide and I knew he was going to drop it," Nolan said. "It was just a matter of pulling the defenseman far enough away. When I received the pass, I just shot it as hard as I could. I wasn't even looking to pick a spot, just to hit the net and it went in." Defenseman Bryan McCabe, who suffered a broken nose in practice Wednesday, also picked up assists on the Maple Leafs' final two goals and had his first career four-point game.
Extractions: TORONTO (Ticker) Payback was pretty special for Pat Quinn, Ed Belfour and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Quinn became the fourth coach in NHL history with 600 wins as the Maple Leafs used superior special teams play to avenge their worst loss of the season with a 5-1 rout of the Ottawa Senators. In his sixth season with Toronto and 18th in the NHL, Quinn joined Scotty Bowman, Al Arbour and Dick Irvin as the only coaches in the 600-win club. "It's just another win for us," Quinn said. It was win No. 424 for Belfour, who stopped 24 shots to move past Tony Esposito into sole possession of fourth place on the all-time list. "Tony was always one of my heroes growing up," Belfour said. "I got a chance to meet him when I was in Chicago and I was really proud of that." Gary Roberts scored two of four power-play goals for the Maple Leafs, who killed 12 of 13 penalties and exacted a little revenge for a 7-1 home loss to the Senators on January 8. "They got all the bounces here last time," Belfour said. "Anytime you lose like that, you want to make sure you come back strong the next time."

Join a Forum TORONTO (AP) - Like most captains, Mats Sundin attempted to deflect the attention to his teammates. var printad = "no"; printad = "yes"; The Toronto Maple Leafs begged to differ, giving him all the credit for leading them to a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night. "He's definitely one of the best players I've ever played with and he shows up for big games every time," Leafs goaltender Ed Belfour said. "He's huge for us all the time," Bryan McCabe said. "He was our leader tonight and everyone else followed." Sundin scored twice, and had a chance to add a few more, in helping Toronto win its second straight to even the best-of-seven, second-round playoff series with Game 5 at Philadelphia on Sunday. Not bad for someone who was playing only his third game after missing four with a leg injury.

Bryan and the Maple Leafs are tied with Philadelphia, 2-2, in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Bryan McCabe will join us in a few minutes. Moderator Bryan will take your questions now! Bryan, do you think whoever wins this series will have enough gas left in the tank to make it to the finals? Bryan McCabe I think it's the same as last year. We had two seven-game series in the first two rounds and managed fine. Hopefully, we'll be okay in the long run with guys coming back healthy. Bryan, do you feel the pressure is on you to relive the success you had in last years playoffs? Especially in Toronto where there is always more pressure given to players?

Extractions: The winners will be announced in the final edition of In the Crease on April 6. The nominees for the most outstanding first-year player are N.Y. Islanders' Trent Hunter , Boston's Andrew Raycroft and Montreal's Michael Ryder . Hunter has been instrumental in the Islanders' run to the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. The forward is out of the mold of a Todd Bertuzzi or Owen Nolan . He has the ability to muck, but he is also very gifted offensively and keeps his emotions in check, even better than perhaps the aforementioned duo. Raycroft has led the Bruins to the brink of the Northeast Division title and a No. 1 or 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. His sparkling 2.00 GAA is not only tops among all rookie netminders, it is good for sixth place in the league. Raycroft's 92.9 save percentage is second only to Florida's Roberto Luongo in the Eastern Conference. Ryder has burst onto the scene to lead all rookie scorers with 60 points. He is tied with Hunter with 24 goals scored, but he has posted 36 assists to place 32nd among all scorers entering Tuesday's action. Ryder has gelled with linemate
