Extractions: THE HOCKEY PROJECT Home Team Study Player Study Columns ... About Me Updated Normalized Production Last spring, I presented the work of my Normalized Production system, which enabled better cross-era comparison of players. Included in the study, were lists of every significant NHL scoring feat since 1918. However, I wasnt completely satisfied at the time, because even though Normalized Production showed many players, it did not include players from other major leagues that deserve credit for their accomplishments. I have now completed the addition of the most important scoring feats of players from these other leagues, including the National Hockey Association (1909-1917), the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (1911-1924), the Western Canada Hockey League, and the World Hockey Association (1972-1979). Without further ado, I present updated Top 50 lists in single-season NG, NA, and NPTS. Top 50 Normalized Goals (players in bold indicate new entrants from non-NHL major leagues) Rank Name Year Lg.
Career Offensive Player System newsy lalonde was the best player in each of the first 5 seasons ofmajor league hockey, yet his career began 5 years before that. http://members.shaw.ca/hbtn/player_study/cops.htm
Extractions: THE HOCKEY PROJECT Home Team Study Player Study Columns ... About Me Career Offensive Player System One of my long-standing projects was to develop a system that finalizes a players different career accomplishments into one number. This system would account for as many (as possible) of the different factors that have created the wide disparity in historical scoring totals: games played, the varying levels of league scoring, etc. To that end, I worked on Normalized Production, which brought a players scoring totals into proper context with other players, allowing for far better comparison than simply looking at their raw numbers. The next step is Career Offensive Player System (COPS). COPS views the scoring totals of a major league player and produces a number based on those statistics. It isnt complicated, but did take awhile due to multiple projects. Offensive Player value is a fairly straight-forward system for viewing a players scoring worth, and is comprised of 4 main components (each one, of course, being comprised of smaller sections as well). They are: The players Career Value The players Peak Value How the player performed in rate stats Adjusting for statistically undocumented portions of the players career due to circumstances beyond his control.

Cornwall Minor Lacrosse Edouard newsy lalonde a goaltender! By 1910 newsy was a hockey star in Montrealand decided to stay in that city and play lacrosse there for the summer. http://host.cnwl.igs.net/~fran/about.html
Extractions: For the first time in some 15 years, the children of Cornwall will have the opportunity to play minor lacrosse in Cornwall. Although for reasons we won't go into, lacrosse has missed a generation. There is a group of Cornwall citizens that are working to bring this wonderful game back to the status it once enjoyed in our city. In it's heyday, in the early '70's there were some 500 kids playing the game. Thirty years ago, the Cornwall Celtics won the All -Ontario Jr. "B" Championships. In 1972 we hosted the Castrol Cup which was the Canadian National Jr. "B" Championship. Do you remember the classic battles between the St. Regis Braves and the Cornwall Celtics? It was not uncommon to draw between 1500 and 2000 fans in the Water Street Arena (now Si Miller) for those epic battles on a sweltering hot August night. The Cornwall Minor Lacrosse Association hosted a Midget tournament that drew teams from as far away as B.C. and I can tell you people from Toronto still talk about how that was one of the best tournaments in the country. Do you remember the Cornwall Wildcats? Mustangs? T-Birds? Yes at one time Cornwall boasted 3 Jr. teams. Cornwall Rams? Colin Chisholm hosting a Mann Cup in Cornwall? Some may think that the years between 1963 to the late seventies with players like the Disotell's, Bowen's, Thompson's, McDonald's, Herrington's, Robillard's, Ward's, Desrosier's, Denneny's, Chuck Li, and so many more was lacrosse's finest hour in the Seaway City. But was it?

Finishing second in the scoring race was his teammate Joe Primeau, with 14 goals and 32 assists in 45 games. Charlie Gardiner would win the Vezina Trophy and lead all goaltenders that year with a 1.73 Goals against average and 10 shutouts in 48 games. Gardiner would also backstop the Hawks to their first ever Stanley Cup win in 1934. Tragically though he would pass away two months later following a brain operation.
