Lawson made it 2-0 with his 11th goal of the season from Niko Dimitrakos (Someville, Mass.) and Kariya at 17:14. For Lawson, it is his fourth straight game with a goal. Gray Shaneberger (Sewell, N.J.) added to the Maine lead when he knocked in a rebound off a Robert Liscak (Skalica, Slovakia) shot at 9:01 of the second period. The UMaine freshman class continued to look impressive as Ben Murphy (North Andover, Mass.) scored his fifth goal of the season at 11:32 from Paul Falco (Weymouth, Mass.) and Metcalf. Maine is currently ranked first in the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine and USCHO polls. "We were excited to get into Hockey East play," said Maine head coach Tim Whitehead. "Merrimack was playing well with a hot goalie. We got out to an early lead, and scored some real timely goals. Greg Moore scoring to break the tie in the first period, and then Todd Jackson on the short-handed goal when Merrimack was applying a lot of pressure on the power play. The Golden Eagle hockey team brought home the MCHA Final Four Championship this past weekend. They beat Northand College in the semifinals on Friday evening, 6-4, and ended Marian Colleges hopes of an MCHA championship on Saturday, winning 4-3. Along with bringing home the MCHA team hardware they also had five members named to the MCHA All-Conference first and second teams and placed four on the MCHA Final Four All-Tourney team, with Scott Swenson taking home tournament MVP honors. Topping it all off, UMCs Head Coach Mark Huglen was named MCHA Coach of the Year. UMCs All-Conference Selections First Team Kelly Kilgore - Kilgore a 62 195 junior out of Grand Forks, ND has had an exceptional year for the Golden Eagles. In conference games Kilgore is tied for the team lead in scoring with 14 points (6 goals, 8 assists). The good hands and play making ability of Kilgore has made him recognizable for this honor of all-conference, he has also made the teammates around him better in every aspect of the game. When Kilgore is on the ice UMC scores goals, Kilgore has a +/- ratio of +8, the second highest on the team in conference play. Kelly was nominated one time for MCHA Player of the Week this season.

The Falcons played the Wolverines to a scoreless first period before UM grabbed a 2-0 lead 8:49 into the middle frame. Mike Johnson cut BG's deficit in half 1:55 later with the Falcons on the power play. Kelly Perrault and Curtis Fry helped set up Johnson's team-leading 31st goal of the year. However, the Wolverines built their advantage back up to two goals with just 1:29 left in the period. UM broke the game wide open in the final stanza with four unanswered tallies, all by the 13:29 mark, before Fry concluded the game's scoring with a power-play marker of his own with 1:25 to play. Perrault and Adam Edinger both drew assists on Fry's 21st goal of the season. Fry's tally was BG's only shot on goal of the period. The Falcon defense limited UM to 26 SOG for the game, including five in the first period. BG netminder Bob Petrie made 19 saves in his final collegiate game. Both teams were 2-of-6 on the power play. The Brown and Orange concludes the season at 17-16-5, the program's fourth straight winning season.
