Extractions: Where HoopHeads Get Their Fix! Main April 27, 2004 Writing An Obituary For The Knicks 2003-04 Season For the 31st season in a row, the New York Knicks will not be NBA champions. And for everybody but the Knicks perpetually clueless CEO James Dolan, who termed his latest collection of high-priced and overrated talent for Comments You saw the foul. It wasn't intentional. Everyone knew itthe Knicks knew it too and that's why they didn't "respond". Tim Thomas is a whiner. And now he's pissed off Kenyon Martin. Can't wait for the next time they're on the court together... The second half of this Bill Simmons article really sticks it to Isiah Thomas: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/040423 He's rightthe Knicks are screwed for the next several years. Again. Posted by: chris on April 27, 2004 03:02 AM I think the Knicks made too many bad trades this season. To me it doesn't make any sense to keep McDyess for 2-3 years while he's injured than trade him for 27 Mil. in Hardaway and Marbury when McDyess's contract expire after next season. Their salary cap is 94 Mil., that's way too high for a team that can't make it pass the first round of the play-off and a team that has not "star player attraction" on their roster. At least when Ewing was player, he attracted a lot of fans. New York has always been about winning or having a star player and they got neither. Posted by: Next Nba on May 1, 2004 04:45 PM

Extractions: Tim started school at Stanwood A. Murphy Elementary. While in kindergarten, he and his family moved to Fortuna. Tim attended Toddy Thomas and played sports through grammar school. Tim has been involved in sports as a spectator and a player since he was five years old. He would accompany his older brother and sisters to many practices and games. It was a common site to see their little brother sound asleep on a bleacher if the games ran late. So, Tim learned at a young age the long hours and dedication involved in playing sports. Tim started to dribble a basketball when he was five years old. He began to play for Fortuna Park and Recreation at the Fortuna pavilion. He would run up and down the court so fast, your head would spin watching him. He finally scored his first two points; the ball bounced off the backboard and miraculously fell. That was his first MVP award. Since that day, Tim has always had a hunger to win. Tim played basketball in 6th and 7th grades at Toddy Thomas. In his 8th grade year, he transferred to Town School. Tim played on the Fortuna Spartans, and they had a very successful season (23-3). The Spartans went to Crescent City and Tim made the All-Tourney team and was voted MVP. He played on the JV team his freshman and sophomore years. Tim is anxiously looking forward to this year on the Varsity team. Tim has also been involved in numerous other sports. He played baseball, volleyball, and golf. Golf and basketball are Tim's favorite sports.

Extractions: New York Knicks forward Tim Thomas on Thursday was fined $75,000 for publicly criticizing the game officials after a 21-point defeat to the Indiana Pacers. After Tuesday's 107-86 setback in Indiana, Thomas voiced his belief that the Knicks do not get favorable calls from the referees. "When you're playing five against eight each and every night you feel like you have no chance," he said Tuesday. "It seems like no matter what crew we get, it's the same outcome." New York was whistled for 23 personal fouls, only two more than the NBA-leading Pacers, but Thomas was called for five. "There were some questionable calls," Knicks coach Lenny Wilkens said after the game. "I thought Tim got fouled a few times ... but every coach thinks that." Stern would welcome Jordan as an onwer The Houston Rockets activated Kelvin Cato from the injured list on Tuesday and released veteran Charles Oakley. Cato, averaging 6.1 points and 7.0 rebounds, was placed on the injured list March 18 with a left shoulder sprain. Oakley, a forward, signed the first of two 10-day contracts with the club the same day and rejoined his former New York Knicks coach, Jeff Van Gundy. Oakley, a former Toronto Raptor, averaged 1.3 points and 0.7 rebounds in seven games with the Rockets.
