Coach Keady has reported that all the players and recruits are on campus for the fall semester. Yes, that means Cam Stephens is back in the fold, but will have some catching up to do to get rid of a spare tire he has developed. Now if we can get John Allison to add the "freshman fifteen"... or twenty... The Recruiter's Handbook, one of the few publications I have bothered to subscribe to in the past, has Keady's incoming recruits ranked as the 27th best class in the nation. At the top of the list, according to the publication, is Greg McQuay at #34. Remembering back close to four years ago, Greg McQuay was the one that was ranked in the top50 consistently by the rags until it became clear he wasn't going to qualify. Interesting how a kid's poor academic status will hurt his basketball ranking, but you never hear of a kid with solid basketball talent being benefitted by an outstanding academic record.

DenverPost.com - Tom Kensler College basketball s talent drain, because of marquee players leaving early for the lineup could have looked like with 7foot-3 aleksandar radojevic at center http://63.147.65.175/scolumns/kens0205.htm
Extractions: Denver Post Sports Writer Feb. 5 Jim O'Brien probably doesn't know whether to laugh or cry at the irony. But he certainly wonders what might have been for his Ohio State program this season and next. College basketball's talent drain, because of marquee players leaving early for the NBA, is a well-documented issue. Yet the NCAA recently had an opportunity to accommodate two players who wanted to stay in school. And the NCAA blew it, as far as O'Brien is concerned. It's difficult to shed any tears for O'Brien, considering his team reached last year's Final Four and this week is ranked in the top 10. But he can only imagine what his lineup could have looked like with 7-foot-3 Aleksandar Radojevic at center and current Buckeyes pivot Ken Johnson (6-11) moved to forward. "It stings you some, the NCAA stuff," O'Brien said. Radojevic earned junior college All-America honors last season at Barton County (Kan.) and was told he already was good enough to be drafted into the NBA if he chose that route. But Radojevic, a native of Yugoslavia, decided he wanted to experience major college basketball. He signed in November 1998 with Ohio State and planned to join the Buckeyes this season. Last spring, however, the NCAA ruled Radojevic ineligible after discovering he played briefly for a Yugoslavian pro team. Radojevic wanted to earn a college degree, but had no choice but to apply for the NBA draft and was selected in the first round by the Toronto Raptors, the overall 12th pick.
DenverPost.com - Nuggets Basketball Willis, centers aleksandar radojevic and Garth Joseph and a secondround draft pick were acquired Friday from the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Keon Clark http://63.147.65.175/nuggets/game0116.htm
Extractions: Denver Post Sports Writer Jan. 16, 2001 - It was raining 3-pointers at the Pepsi Center during Kevin Willis' debut Monday night, and the Denver Nuggets tied a franchise record with 16 treys during a 122-111 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics. The only other time the Nuggets hit that many 3-point shots, Seattle also was the opponent, on March 20, 1997. Denver (22-16) also set an NBA season-high mark for 3-pointers, and its 11 in the first half were one shy of the NBA record and tied a club record. "We were just getting good looks and guys were making them," Nuggets coach Dan Issel said. "I think what happens is that Mac (Antonio McDyess) has been playing so great, teams come in here and defensively their top priority is to stop Antonio. And because of that, we got the looks from the 3-point line that we got tonight." The Nuggets tied a season high with their fifth consecutive home victory and earned season highs in points and shooting percentage (.561). Denver's backcourt was sensational, with Voshon Lenard scoring a season-high 30 points and Nick Van Exel scoring 27. Lenard made six 3-point shots, Van Exel five.
