Sell Tickets Welcome to Coast to Coast Tickets, your best source for New Orleans Hornets tickets! The New Orleans Hornets are a National Basketball Association team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Until 2002, they were based in Charlotte. They play at the New Orleans Arena. The Hornets started in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1998 the same year as expansion teams Minnesota Timberwolves and Miami Heat. The Hornets got a new home in New Orleans in 2002. Past Hornets stars include Larry Johnson, fan favorite Mugsey Bogues and Alonzo Mourning. The team was led by guard Kelly Tripucka, who provided instant points. Tripucka was Charlotte's top scorer for the franchise's first two seasons. The team also had sharpshooting rookie Rex Chapman, who was also an instant scoring threat. Click here to find New Orleans Hornets tickets In 1992, the team won the second pick in the draft, using it to draft center Alonzo Mourning from Georgetown. The Hornets now had twin 20-10 threats in Johnson and Mourning, who with Gill formed perhaps the league's top young trio. It was good enough for fifth in the Eastern Conference and a playoff spot, where they upset the Boston Celtics with Mournings famous series-winning shot. However, they lacked the experience and depth to defeat the New York Knicks.

Extractions: Full Review I recently saw the Mavericks beat the Suns here and I must say I was surprised at the level of quality that the arena had. I really enjoyed the game there, but the fans at this plaec are weak. No one was cheering. I feel that fan support makes a stadium and there was none. Everyone there was high profile and too good to represent their team by shouting. While I didn't see a hockey game, I was told that when sitting behind the goal on the second level, you can't see the goal on your side of the rink because it is cut off. This stadium is very nice and has a variety of items to be purchased and many consumer programs. For the locals, this is surely a great arena, but visitors will not like it. Penny, stop faking it!

Lyles, averaging nine points and four rebounds per game, was suspended indefinitely after Saturdays loss to St. Johns for arguing with the coaching staff during halftime. Michael Pehanichs Etan Thomas tried to ignore the insults coming from the West Virginia students during his postgame interview with ESPN2s Len Elmore. Despite his attempt at seriousness, the Ales Chan Fan Clubs description of Orangeman Tony Blands hairdo something resembling a Brillo pad caused the Wooden Award nominee to crack a smile.

Stunned and tearful teammates and Hornets officials gathered at the accident scene less than a mile from the Charlotte Coliseum, where minutes earlier Phills and the other players had been practicing for Wednesday night's game with the Chicago Bulls. The game was postponed. Phills, 30, was traveling at a ''very high rate of speed'' when he collided with a car headed toward the coliseum, police spokesman Keith Bridges said. A minivan rear-ended the other car. Two people in those vehicles were hospitalized.

Extractions: CHARLOTTE, N.C. Exactly four years ago today, Charlotte Hornets basketball player Bobby Phills died in a horrific crash on Tyvola Road. This morning, his widow begins her campaign to tell young drivers that speed kills. At a news conference, Kendall Phills will announce details of the city's 2004 Speeding Awareness program, aimed at reducing deaths and injuries from speeding. The campaign will be the first time Phills has spoken publicly about speeding. She'll talk about her husband and what he did wrong. "My husband was speeding, and he put other lives at risk," Phills said. "Every day since then I deal with my children and see the void in their lives." Over the next year, Phills will take her husband's smashed Porsche convertible to 16 Charlotte-Mecklenburg high schools to show teens what's left after a car crashes at 100 mph.

Five-year-old Trey and Kerstie, 3, have stayed close to the National Basketball Association team since Bobby Phills died on Jan. 12, 2000, while racing his car near Charlotte Coliseum. Some of the players and coaches have almost become surrogate fathers. But now the team is moving to New Orleans, and many stories about their father are going with them.
