These players, and dozens more, would be suiting up for their college teams this winter if they had not given up their remaining eligibility in pursuit of pro careers. Some, like Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant, have skipped college altogether and gone straight to the NBA following their prep careers. This mass exodus of stars to the pros has created a parity never before seen in college basketball. More teams than ever have realistic Final Four aspirations. Schools are looking increasingly to the junior college ranks and to transfers as players leave early and recruits fail to qualify immediately under the NCAA's new and tougher admissions standards. The road to Indianapolis is wide open. The teams with the most talent are the teams with the biggest underachievers and the Top 25 is full of teams that have failed to live up their potential. The team with this year's most complete blend of incumbents, freshmen and transfers is the Cincinnati Bearcats. They are the early favorites to cut down the nets in Indianapolis.
