Here, we'll try to alert you to things that are being said, posted and written about the Mariners around the world. Occasionally, we'll delve into the world of baseball at large or offer up a few opinions of our own. JUNE 04, 2004 Raul Ibanez has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 3. The outfielder strained his hamstring on Wednesday running to first base. The Mariners also recalled infielder Ramon Santiago from Tacoma. He was batting .165 for the Rainiers. Basically, the Mariners are back to having three backup/utility guys who have no power. Could this also mean the Mariners are close to trading or releasing Rich Aurilia? But here's some quick notes and a guide for Easter weekend. The biggest news of the week is the suspension of six Mississippi players for the eighth-ranked Rebels' three-game series against No. 13 Auburn. Justin Donovan, Taylor Fowler, Chris Hollomon, Drew Robinson, Chris Thompson and Brae Wright will all miss the series because of a violation of team rules and coach Mike Bianco will evaluate the situation Monday, at which point the players probably will be reinstated. The loss of Wright, a sophomore lefthander who normally starts the Saturday game, will be felt the most. Wright leads the team with a 2.19 ERA. Sophomore lefty Eric Fowler, the Rebels normal midweek starter, gets the ball on Saturday. He should be ready despite starting Tuesday's 7-3 win against Memphis. Fowler (3-0, 5.29) worked three scoreless innings and threw just 35 pitches.
