Football As A Second Language a foreign language, you can relate to the endless hours of study football playersmust Just ask Oiler backup QB dave krieg, who is in his 19th NFL season and http://archive.profootballweekly.com/content/archives/features_1998/terminology.
Extractions: As published in print Sept. 28 Just ask Oiler backup QB Dave Krieg, who is in his 19th NFL season and has played for six different teams over the last eight years. "If you get there during minicamp, you can start to get the hang of it a little bit," Krieg said. "When I left Seattle and went to Kansas City (in 1992), I was able to be there from March until the season started, so I was able to get it down before training camp started. "But, the first year in Kansas City, it was pretty difficult running a new system. Their philosophy of offense was different from the one I had known for 12 years." Talk about teaching an old dog new tricks. According to Krieg, the fewer words a quarterback has to spew in the huddle, the better. "If you have to call the play with a lot of words, that makes it difficult," said Krieg, who admitted the Oiler play calls are a bit on the wordy side. "If you use a system that the players know by number what route to run, that makes it shorter and simpler to call in the huddle. The more words you have to say in the huddle, the less chance of getting the proper communication, I believe." The Archives

Seattle Seahawks, professional football team and one of five teams in the Western Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) of the National Football League (NFL). Under the leagues realignment plan, which will take affect in 2002, the Seahawks will move into the West Division of the National Football Conference (NFC). The Seahawks played in the Kingdome in Seattle, Washington, from 1976 to 1999. The stadium was demolished in early 2000, and the club adopted Husky Stadium at the University of Washington as its home field while a new stadium, scheduled to be completed in 2002, was constructed. The team wears uniforms of blue, green, and silver. The Seahawks joined the NFL in 1976 when the league granted an expansion team franchise to John Nordstrom, a Seattle department store owner. In the clubs first season, quarterback Jim Zorn passed for more than 2,500 yards and was named the leagues top offensive rookie. Jack Patera was named coach of the year in 1978 after leading the Seahawks to their first winning season. Zorn led the AFC in passing yardage that year, and wide receiver Steve Largent notched the first of his eight 1,000-yard seasons.

My most distant relative found is a Heinrich Krieg (who came from Manheim - which had all its records destroyed in the war) born around 1792 He begat another Heinrich (who moved to Grunstadt) begat Philip begat Fredrick (who came to America)begat Edwin begat Arthur begat me and I have fathered Philip (age 8) My relatives came from near Stutgart which was known for Mercenaries (known as Hessians) who would have been called Warriors or " Krieger " - perhaps we have a shortened version of that name. Hell, I still like fighting - but try to abstain for moral reasons. My family is largely engineers with a few doctors. Iowa seems to have a very large number of Kriegs.
